Dwyane Wade moved to California with his family from Florida to provide a safer community for her daughter Zaya when she was 15. Now at the age of 17, Zaya became an entrepreneur by launching a digital platform Translatable. ‘D-Wade’ spoke about the critics and said he was ‘fearful’ for Zaya. But that didn’t stop the father from helping in the project and as a contributor to the website and now he took it a step further.

Want to shop @dwyanewade’s closet? Of course, you do. The basketball legend has consigned some of his favorite pieces, from a Today Show-worthy shirt to the suit he wore to be named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People.” The post was in collaboration with Dwyane Wade, Translatable, and The Real Real. It’s a fashion website that deals in sourcing authentic luxury resale. It was also stated that the proceeds would go towards the latest project by Zaya.

Proceeds will be donated to @translatableproject, the Wade family’s new non-profit building strong, safe, and supportive communities for trans youth.” Zaya also gave a shout-out to her family in the post for helping in the journey. “It’s an issue close to Wade’s and his daughter @zayawade’s hearts: ‘My family recognized the lack of resources through our journey and wanted to make sure families have a place to go throughout their own process.‘”

The goal of Translatable was to engage young people and create a safer community. This was made possible as they could submit content ranging from poetry to photography or even general thoughts as an outlet. And a month ago Dwyane Wade posted on his Instagram story to once again share support for Zaya“I think people feel that because I have a trans daughter that I had this traumatic experience. Zaya has been Zaya since day one. Nothing has changed in a sense of how Zaya shows up.”

The Miami Heat legend when Translatable went live, spoke with Them about his responsibility for speaking out for trans rights. In a conversation with Michael Cuby, Dwyane Wade said, “People ask me, ‘Are you fearful? Are you afraid?’ I say, ‘Yes, I am. Not only is my child in one of the most attacked communities in the world, the trans community and the LGBTQ+ community but also, my child is Black in America.’ That right there alone is enough for a parent.”

The same day that the Translatable project went live Dwyane Wade was in Miami receiving the Catalyst Award from the Elevate Prize Foundation which acknowledged Wade’s many years of advocacy work.

This turns out to be an exceptional year for Zaya Wade. A few months ago, she was the face of the brand Bottega Veneta which has a value close to $5 billion. Now her project Translatable on which she has been working since she was 14 has come to fruition. There is no looking back for Zaya and Dwyane Wade as they would look to build on this foundation.
