It’s Dwyane Wade‘s first experience calling the games, but some people cannot be considerate enough! Although it only seems unfair to expect social media platforms to be free of brutal judgments. The former Miami Heat star faced something similar at the hands of an online troll on X. But Wade is not among the ones to have it without dishing it right back, with enough decency though.

Notably, the troll had criticized the 3x NBA champ for his commentary with a comment on one of Wade’s earlier posts. The post highlighted the moment that Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, and LeBron James protested against one of ref Takaki Kato’s calls. “Do people know that Dwayne Wade can’t read and write? That’s why is announcing of the Olympics is HORRIBLE,” commented the X user.

D-Wade first responded with a post stating how he is having fun calling these games. “… But most importantly I’m not trying to be anyone IAM not,” he added. Following this, the 13x All-Star gave a reply to the troll as well. I’m too grown for bullies. That ended in 3rd grade,” he wrote. Meanwhile, most of the reply section also pointed out the grammatical errors and typos in the troll’s own comment. Talk about irony!

Notably, Wade has had some experience with broadcasting as an analyst on TNT. But this is his first time calling out games. And debuting at the Olympics could itself be overwhelming. However, a certain section of basketball fans seem to be digging his commentary alongside Noah Eagle.

In fact, fans on social media demanded NBC to get D-Wade into a permanent role with the network. This came after his commentary during the Group B matchup between France and Brazil. Not only did the 13x All-Star display some high-energy moments in his game calling, but also provided an analysis of France’s Victor Wembanyama.

“A genuine excitement and giddiness”: 63YO sports columnist backs Dwyane Wade as an option for NBC

As per the opinion of USA TODAY’s Mike Freeman, the former Heat star could be a “perfect analyst for the network as it re-enters the NBA universe”. Stating so, Freeman also spotlighted Eagle for letting his co-commentator find his perfect spot in broadcasting. “He is not perfect, but there is a genuine excitement and giddiness to his broadcasts. Almost a John Madden-like quality to his presence,” the 36-year-old wrote in his article.

Further comparing the 3x NBA champ to NFL coach and commentator, Miller stated just like Madden, Wade takes the game seriously, but not himself. It is worth mentioning though that The Athletic’s Senior Writer, Andrew Marchand earlier, expressed the possibility that not just NBC, but this could be an opportunity for Dwyane Wade with other networks as well. “Wade auditioning for No. 1 spots. All networks in play if he does well,” he wrote in a post on X.

Notably, the NBA has recently signed an 11-year, $76 Billion deal with Disney (ABC/ESPN), NBC and Amazon. Meanwhile, TNT has started a legal battle with the org over going with Amazon despite the network matching its offer. However, if Wade would be interested in entering this scenario on a more stable basis is a different story. But one thing is clear, the ex-Heat star has got more support for this than the criticism.
