“She’s owning it. She is owning who she is. She wants to be great, and she wants to be a great teammate,” said Dwyane Wade last year about Chicago Sky’s talented power forward Angel Reese. While Reese has shown her teammate skills in the WNBA season, The Flash, as his name suggests, was quick to indirectly announce his appearance on Angel Reese’s very own show. However, after that indirect announcement, he was quick to share another moment that had captured the hearts of the fans.
Dwyane Wade recently took to his Instagram Story to share a video of his five-year-old daughter having the best time of her life. “Black Girl Joy“, read the caption of the post. In the slow-motion snippet, Kaavia can be seen dancing around in a hall and moving in circles. But that wasn’t the only thing that the 42-year-old posted about his daughter. In a few of the early stories, Reese can be seen holding on to Kaavia while on the shooting set of “Unapologetically Angel”. Moreover, the Chi-Town Barbie has one thing in common with the Miami Heat standout, which explains their bond. But what is it?
It’s Chicago. Dwyane Wade was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 17, 1982, and, despite being known as the standout of the Heat, he had spent a year playing for the Chicago Bulls. On top of that, he is also the part owner of the WNBA team Chicago Sky that Reese plays for. The reason behind Wade’s investment in this team is that he wanted his young daughter to be inspired by the women who were playing for her hometown team. “The women showed up when the lights were the brightest and that started back last year when Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark had that national championship moment. It’s just like anything that we want to do in life. You work and you just prepare for your moment. You don’t know when it’s going to come always,” said Wade (as per CBS).

As we reflect on this heartwarming moment, it’s clear that Dwyane Wade is doing more than just sharing cute family videos. He’s actively shaping a narrative of love, acceptance, and celebration of identity that has the potential to impact countless families. However, Wade isn’t the only one who is excited about his appearance on the show.

The “Bring it On” actress, Gabriel Union, who is a prominent figure in both entertainment and sports advocacy, is recently going to appear in the newly launched show of Angel Reese, “Unapologetically Angel“. However, long before the show was broadcasted, Union took her time to praise the 22-year-old publicly. “Even better in person“, wrote Gabriel as the caption for a X post as she retweeted a picture of Reese.
Even Reese didn’t leave the opportunity. She took to her social media to post a selfie with the actress and captioned it as “DROP DEAD GORG @gabunion.” The appearance of the Wade family on this show could have been anticipated because a few days ago Wade himself had posted a snippet of Kaavia going to her school by rocking a t-shirt and holding a lunchbox that was gifted by Reese.
Although, Reese’s season run was cut short due to a wrist injury, the fact that Sky couldn’t make it to the playoffs doesn’t seem to affect the point guard that much. It can be speculated that Reese will navigate through these shortcomings and will deliver an even better performance next year.
