SXSW 2024 knew what they were doing when they brought Dwyane Wade to Austin, Texas as the ‘Icon of Impact.’ The most recent example of D-Wade’s impact was seen through his work with Versace. But he’s at SXSW because of Porsche which has a big role in this event. Wade has an affinity for the brand and he hopes this partnership goes a long way.

After saying he’s always looking for different communities to be a part of, he said, “I was brought down here by the Porsche family.” Wade, who boasts a Porsche or two in his sizable fleet, said, “I wanted to be a part of that community, you know what I mean? Like, because when I see Porsche, I see freedom.”

Other than his recent drive on a Porsche tractor, Wade has been known to pick up models from the $58 billion worth auto brand as soon as they are released. He and his former Miami Heat teammate, LeBron James, famously had matching Porsche 911s which were dubbed their ‘Batman and Robin’ cars. He also had a Porsche 911 GT2 RS. There’s a reason why he leans towards them.

I think of dropping that top, getting, you know, getting on that highway. And just. I see freedom. And so I want to be a part of freedom,” he described. “I want to see what that looks like. And so I wanted to be a part of this brand.”

Only last year, Wade and his wife were trolled regarding their 50/50 financial split. He flaunted a Porsche on social media and was dragged by fans for being extravagant while Gabrielle Union was talking about financial anxiety. Clearly, a few trolls didn’t diminish his desire to be a part of the Porsche family. Porsche could take note of how he’s grown the reach of another brand community he was part of.

D-Wade and Versace are a partnership as exquisite as Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union. Along with a fashion-forward eyewear collection and donning fine pieces from Versace Atelier at most events, he’s cultivated a relationship with the family behind it. He’s done it all, including working as an unpaid intern for Donatella Versace.

The Wade-Versace partnership was one of the highlights this Oscars weekend. Dwyane and Donatella, two outspoken activists for the LGBTQIA+ community, hosted a special event at the L.A. LGBT center. The Wade family and Versace also donated $50,000 each to the center among the duo’s fundraising efforts.
