“We’d have been in those battles with Boston (Celtics), with KG (Kevin Garnett) and Paul Pierce in them.” A few days ago, Dwyane Wade revealed that the Celtics duo would trash-talk during their matchup. In the past, Wade and Pierce have exchanged jabs at each other. But this time, ‘The Truth’ put his hand out to set the record straight and even questioned his former teammate KG, which even the Miami Heat legend appreciated.

“Respect 🫡@paulpierce,” shared ‘The Flash’ on his Instagram story. The reason was pretty simple, he added the post in which Paul Pierce defended Wade and his moniker. The post read, “Paul Pierce refusing to call Dean Wade “D Wade” is comedy!” Plus another caption in the post mentioned, “There is only one D Wade.” During the conversation about the Cleveland Cavaliers on their podcast, Garnett spoke highly about the team.

“Cleveland looks different and like you said, bro, like those same pieces with D-Wade and LeVert.” This is where Pierce interjected. “I understand, but he can’t be called D Wade.” The two would go back and forth arguing about Dean Wade and what moniker should be used. KG even insisted that Dwyane Wade doesn’t own the trademark for D-Wade. Still refusing to accept, Paul Pierce came up with a solution.

“I’mma call him Dean W.” That’s why Dwyane Wade shared the post which had the caption, “When Paul Pierce heard KG call Dean Wade “D Wade” he had to stop him 😭.” Now, the legends are on the same page being respectful towards one another, but this wasn’t the case just a year ago.

Dwyane Wade had no time for Paul Pierce and his comparisons

There are things that the former players miss from their playing days. Some also share what-if scenarios about their careers that could have helped them big time. “For a long time, my skills went unappreciated because I didn’t get to play with a lot of great players.” One such thing ‘The Truth’ shared last year in July, on the ‘It Is What It Is‘ show.

“Put Shaq on my team. Put LeBron and Bosh with me. I’m not gonna win one? You put me, LeBron and Bosh, we not gonna win one? We not gonna win a couple?” The former Celtics Champion felt he was better than Dwyane Wade and the only reason for ‘The Flash’ to succeed were his teammates.

And obviously the Heat legend disagreed, “Listen, rent is expensive in America, and I’m living rent-free right now. So let him keep—I like living rent-free.” On the Dan Le Batard Show, in August Wade continued, “So, I’ll let you guys go ahead and talk about all that stuff. It sounds better coming from y’all than me.”

That previous disrespect turned to respect in a matter of one year because Pierce wanted D-Wade’s moniker to be used by anyone else, only showcasing how the competitive fire among athletes is only restricted to the court.
