Dwyane Wade may have retired from the game in 2019, but he’s far from done making his mark. After hanging up his sneakers, the Miami Heat legend shifted his focus to building a legacy beyond the court. From business ventures to a broadcasting role at the Paris Olympics, Wade has been intentional about creating generational wealth. And now, with a new NBA TV deal on the horizon, he’s eyeing a big boost to his $170 million empire. But how?
Dwyane Wade joined Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller on The OGs Show, where he opened up about his post-NBA ambitions. Reflecting on his journey, Wade shared his commitment to securing a prosperous future for his family. “I continue to put myself and my family in a position to make sure that, um, you know, the generational wealth that we talk about, like I’m the first one,” Wade said. “We got a long process to go down… so I’m just going to continue to do my part as much as I can to put us in the best situations.”
Despite his retirement, Wade still stands to “win” thanks to his strategic investments. One standout move was securing a minority stake in the Utah Jazz, a move he says positions him perfectly to benefit from the upcoming NBA TV deal.

“I can still benefit from the TV deal… because my investment in this league, all the stuff that you did for the league,” he explained on the podcast. Wade may not be scoring points anymore, but he’s certainly still playing the game—just in a different arena.
Adding to that, Wade’s ventures have only grown. Currently, he’s involved with four Utah-based teams, including the Utah Hockey Club, and his wealth has soared. When he initially joined Jazz ownership in 2021, the team’s valuation was $1.75 billion. Today? It’s $3.46 billion, as reported by Boardroom in April.
Beyond his sports investments, Wade is also active in real estate and other business ventures. His efforts aren’t just about money; they’re about building “generational wealth” that ensures his influence continues in the NBA world, even in retirement. But that’s not the only way D-Wade is planning to have his effect on the NBA even after his retirement.

Even after retiring from the NBA, Dwyane Wade is still finding new ways to keep his hoops legacy alive. At 42, Wade took on the role of color commentator for Team USA at the Paris Olympics, working alongside play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle. Reflecting on the opportunity, Wade shared his excitement, saying, “When I got asked to do this, I looked at this as probably one of the biggest challenges in my 2024 calendar year.”
Although Wade had prior experience as a TNT studio analyst from 2019 to 2022, the Olympics marked his first time calling live game action. He approached the role with the same dedication he once brought to the court, committing to a rigorous preparation process. With each game, he took his role seriously, determined to give fans his best.

One of Wade’s first challenges? Getting the player’s names right, starting with the Greece team. “The first thing for me was to sit down and try to learn how to pronounce the names from the Greece team,” he explained. For the 3x NBA champion, getting the details right has always been part of the job.
As for what’s next, Wade isn’t making promises beyond the Olympics. “I don’t want to look too far ahead,” he shared, echoing Kobe Bryant’s famous words, “The job is not done.” But if Wade does ever return to break down plays courtside in the NBA, it’ll be a treat for fans to watch.
