You could move mountains with a father as supportive as Dwyane Wade. The Miami Heat icon has foregone no path that’d indicate support for Zaya. Moving to California and making an effort to learn from the 17-year-old every day aside, Wade has ensured to be the loudest ally to her community through his active partaking in her initiatives. Back in May, he helped launch Transtable, a safe space for LGBTQA+ youngsters, and months in, he was spotted acting upon one of its tasks.

The video featuring the father-daughter duo was shared by Translatable’s official Instagram account. “At Translatable, our New Year is starting now! Check out Dwyane and Zaya making vision boards on our website…” read the caption to the post. Why does this come across as an important gesture from Dwyane Wade for her daughter’s venture, you ask? Well, the answer lies in the conversation that The Flash and Zaya had in the video.

The video kicks off with Zaya asking her dad why he loves making vision boards. Wade’s response? “I like doing them because… I’m always about saying things out loud… So you put the onus on yourself to actually accomplish the things that you say you want to accomplish.”

Dwyane Wade explained that before anyone else can understand who you want to be, you need to figure it out for yourself. That’s what made this moment so special. This wasn’t just a father helping out with his daughter’s project; it was a heartfelt commitment to her vision.

The 17-year-old is hoping for it to be a good year for their little initiative that aims to provide a digital space for LGBTQ+ individuals to freely express themselves– whether through poetry, photography, or personal reflections. “I’m ready to bring the energy next year for my community. I’m manifesting so much progress for Translatable,” she had said at Out 100 past December.

Zaya admits having her father by her side has made it more impactful for her and The Flash is all in to ensure he provides her the support she needs as she focuses on a larger community.

The Flash has never shied away from using his platform to stand up for what matters most to him. Especially when it comes to his family. So when he received the Elevate Prize Catalyst Award, he made sure to dedicate it to someone who has been his greatest source of inspiration: his daughter, Zaya.

In his acceptance speech, posted by the Elevate Prize Foundation last year on Instagram, Wade reflected on the many blessings in his life. But above all, he emphasized that fatherhood had been his greatest. As he continues working toward a world where his children—and every child—can grow and thrive, he made it clear that Zaya has been the one to teach him the most along the way.

“… I’m truly honored to accept this year’s Elevate Prize Catalyst Award. Zaya, this is for you and the beautiful community you’ve built,” he said. More than just words, Wade’s speech was a heartfelt reminder of his commitment to being Zaya’s biggest ally and champion as she embraces her journey.

For those unaware, the Elevate Prize Catalyst Award is no small honor. Given to public figures using their influence for social good, it comes with $250,000 in unrestricted funding to help recipients expand their impact globally.

And Wade wasted no time putting that funding to use. He revealed that the prize money would go directly into building and developing Transtable. This made the amount of faith he has in his daughter’s vision quite clear.
