Following disappointment in the 2004 Olympics and success in 2008, there was nothing that could’ve surprised Dwyane Wade with this one. But luckily enough, things have so far worked out on the positive side of the scale for the 3x NBA champ in Paris. Wade’s job at this Olympic outing? Calling the men’s basketball games as a commentator for NBC, alongside Noah Eagle. And if the fan reactions and some experts are to be believed, he has done an impressive job so far.
But this could turn even better as the possibilities for more stable opportunities have started surfacing. “Wade auditioning for No. 1 spots. All networks in play if he does well,” The Athletic‘s Senior Writer, Andrew Marchand wrote on X. This came from Marchand in response to an X user’s post praising Eagle and Wade as the commentators. It is no secret that the former Miami Heat star already enjoys a significant fan following.

Wade received more praise and love from the netizens for his commentary during the Group B matchup between France and Brazil. His highlight moments from the game included his high energy and his quick analysis of France’s Victor Wembanyama. Terming the San Antonio Spurs star as “electrifying”, Wade highlighted the lesser-praised side of Wemby’s gameplay.
“It’s the patience of this player and the patience to make sure that his teammates get involved and get into the game first. And he did the little things first. He did the little things early to get himself going, and then he took over,” Wade said.
If the fan following for Wade along with his energetic calling, featuring his quick analysis continues, Marchand’s prediction of multiple networks eying at The Flash may as well come true. However, another possibility is that the 3x NBA champ could get into a more permanent role with NBC itself.
“… A new voice in the basketball space”: Dwyane Wade impresses NBC executive producer
During an interview with USA Today Sports, NBC Olympics president and executive producer Molly Solomon stated one of the reasons for choosing Dwyane Wade was his experience on the global stage. Apart from this, his friendship with players like LeBron James, and Kevin Durant could bring some interesting inside stories.
“He’s so thoughtful, and of course, has experience with so many members of the team… He’ll have access to members of that team to get new insight. And I look forward to hearing a new voice in the basketball space,” Solomon said. Moreover, fans on social media believe that NBC should finalize not just Wade but Eagle as their future broadcasters. “I’ve heard enough, let Noah Eagle and Dwyane Wade do commentary when NBC’s deal starts with the NBA,” stated one X user.
Notably, as per the new deal, the broadcasting rights for the NBA will be divided between three outlets — NBC, ESPN, and Amazon Prime — for the upcoming 11 years, starting in 2025. However, TNT’s parent company, Warner Bros. has sued the NBA for not accepting its matching offer with Prime. While there is no surety of who will emerge victorious in the battle, Dwyane Wade is surely winning as of now.
