Dwyane Wade‘s love for his family is well-known in the basketball community. Despite his professional commitments and ongoing ventures, he does not forget to make time for his wife and children. And the most recent instance has been the 3x NBA champion’s day out.

Wade was on an outing with his wife, Gabrielle Union-Wade, his daughter, Kaavia Wade, and some of his family friends, whom the 3x NBA champion termed the “Union-Wade Gang” in his Instagram story. The photo in the Instagram story truly brings out Dwyane Wade’s image of a family man.

This love for the bonds within the family was present in the ex-Miami Heat icon even before he started one of his own. Wade once stated in a separate Instagram story that the reason he embarked on this basketball journey was his family. And it was these bonds that kept him moving through difficult times, as he claims.

“You know, just the reason that I started on this journey, I really wanted to change my family’s life. I wanted to change the course of you know how I grew up and how I was living… Every time I wanted to quit, I was thinking about my mom. Kept thinking about my dad. Kept thinking about my grandma. Like anything that motivated,” he stated in the IG story. And even after his retirement, it was his family who motivated him to help transition through the phase.

Dwyane Wade sought professional help for his family’s sake

It is a known fact that transitioning to retirement life is quite a task for any athlete. Wade was worried about similar circumstances, so he did not hesitate to undergo therapy after his retirement to ensure that the change he was going through did not affect his family.

“My wife has introduced me to a few things along the way but I never really been to therapy… I was like you know what one thing I do know is since basketball was my therapy, what am I going to do with all this built-up emotions that I normally will pour out onto the basketball floor, onto my opponents, my rage, my anger… And I didn’t want to do that to my family,” Wade stated on Dinners With DeMar.

It is worth mentioning that Wade has always gone the extra mile for his family. So much so that he moved from Florida to California for his daughter Zaya Wade. The ex-Heat icon had stated that the community his daughter is a part of is better represented in California. This closeness with the family and love for the bonds were reflected in the photo that came in from Dwyane Wade’s outing with his wife, daughter, and friends.
