It’s been a long road for Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union. Both came out of their first marriages heartbroken, but fate had other plans. They met, fell in love, and a few months ago, celebrated a decade together. Now, as they gear up for their 11th anniversary, their bond is stronger than ever. But what’s the secret behind their lasting romance? As Gab puts it, “A lot of times it’s like having a very long sleepover with your best friend.” But keeping the spark alive hasn’t been all smooth sailing.

Speaking on Sherri, Gabrielle revealed a surprising trick that’s kept their marriage solid—TV time. “We have started to develop the skills and the communication to make us last. But we also don’t play around with our TV time,” she admitted. Turns out, their shared love for Lottery Dream Home on HGTV is more than just casual entertainment. “Right, so tomorrow is Friday, which is a big day in our marriage, because Friday is Lottery Dream Home Day on HGTV. We don’t miss Lottery Dream Home.” 

And if they do? Well, it’s a problem. “We’ll be out, like last week we were out and we were like both getting like antsy. And I was like, we’re missing Lottery Dream Home. We’re missing Lottery Dream Home,” she laughed. But they’ve got a backup. “But now we’re on to Paradise,” she added. “He was like, you haven’t watched it, have you? And I’m like, no, but I want to.”

That kind of commitment isn’t lost on others. Even host Sherri Shepherd noticed. “You really are intentional. About your togetherness,” she said. Gabrielle’s response? “Very intentional… I really enjoy him.” But it hasn’t all been easy.

Just recently, Wade revealed his battle with cancer, something that shook their marriage. “It was year nine of our marriage and … year nine was very hard,” Gab shared on Today with Jenna & Friends.

Looking back, she admitted, “You also don’t understand the journey and the toll that it takes on your marriage, on your family, on your kids,” she said.

Thankfully, Wade is now cancer-free, and they celebrated their 10th anniversary in a way they’ll never forget.
