Carmelo Anthony didn’t hesitate to admit anomalies in Dwyane Wade’s statue but it seems the tables have turned. Fans would know the kind of bond the two stars have shared from their NBA days and as the members of popular Banana Boat Crew. Naturally, many would’ve expected blind support for Wade’s statue considering the backlash it garnered last year. Little would Anthony have thought that AT&T would give Wade a chance to have his share of fun with the former New York Knicks star.

The two stars recently appeared in AT&T’s recent commercial along with Kiyan Anthony and Melo’s Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim. The ad is set up in a space where Carmelo Anthony is at his statue unveiling ceremony. Boeheim is the one presenting the statue. “Please be good. Please be good,” the commercial started with Melo hilariously praying for the statue to be good.

Considering the backlash that Dwyane Wade’s statue received for facial irregularities, it makes sense for Anthony to pray. The prayers, however, didn’t pay out and what came out of the unveiling was a rather very tiny statue of Carmelo Anthony. The Miami Heat icon didn’t waste a second’s time and started cheering for one of his closest friends. “It’s a mini mellow… Mini mellow…” Wade exclaimed amid his constant claps. Now, although he was hyping up for Carmelo Anthony, his demeanor was naturally hilarious and seemingly sarcastic.

What was Kiyan doing amid all of this, you ask? Well, as soon as the statue was unveiled, the 17-year-old pulled out his Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra to click some snaps. But this wasn’t just any phone flex. AT&T, the $176.10 billion telecom giant, is rolling out some seriously good deals with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series.

If you’re looking to upgrade, AT&T is offering a brand-new Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra for $0 with select plans and a trade-in. If you have an older phone, you can still grab the Samsung Galaxy S25+ with an eligible trade-in, no matter the year or condition. The same goes for the Samsung Galaxy S25, which is also available under similar trade in terms.

So, whether you’re here for the Melo-Wade banter or the latest phone drop, AT&T just made sure you got the best of both worlds. Just as it ensured a friendly revenge of sorts on Melo for mocking his statue.

Did Wade's 'Mini Melo' jab hit the mark, or was it just friendly banter among legends?

Have an interesting take?

What exactly did Carmelo Anthony say about Dwyane Wade’s statue?

If you’re a Miami Heat fan—or just someone who admires Dwyane Wade—you probably heard all the buzz (and jokes) about his statue outside Kaseya Center. While getting a statue is a massive honor, the execution? Well, let’s just say it didn’t quite land the way fans expected. Even former NBA star Gilbert Arenas chimed in, joking that the facial features looked like Thanos’ chin! So, when Carmelo Anthony was asked about it, people were eager to hear what he had to say.

During his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Melo revealed that he was actually at the statue ceremony. But here’s the catch—he didn’t get a good look at it at the time! His seating position wasn’t ideal. And by the time he got the chance to check it out, the crowd was just too much to handle. It wasn’t until later, back at his hotel, that he finally saw what everyone was talking about. And his reaction?

“I got back to the hotel and somebody sent me the screenshot of it, and I was like, oh, no, this is the. We had the wrong thing. This is not. This is not [Dwyane Wade]…” Melo admitted, probably echoing what a lot of fans were thinking. Carmelo Anthony, however, redeemed himself as a friend by expressing the possibility that D-Wade could’ve been so in love with the process of the statue that he might’ve just forgotten about the outcome.

It’s good to see the two stars in the same commercial reassuring the fans of the duo that a little bit of an honest opinion has not affected their bond.
