Dwight Howward’s name shines brightly in the NBA as a testament to his extraordinary athletic prowess and impact on the sport. The 8x All-Star and NBA Champion revolutionized the center position by combining raw power with acrobatic agility to dominate both ends of the court. However, along with this athletic prowess, he has often given his fans a look into one of his off-court abilities. If you haven’t guessed it yet, it is: Dancing. Yes. Since Orlando Magic’s playoff run in 2010, the dancing moves shown by Howard have always caught the fan’s attention. Now as he has taken his off-court skill to a new level with the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ show, the support from his fans is also going on par with him.
The internet is going frenzy as a fan has leaked their chat on their Instagram story with the former Olympic gold medallist captioned “I’m Screaming.” But what did Dwight say in the chat? Surprisingly, nothing. But he did react with a laughing-crying emoji to one of her stories where the fan is recreating one of Dwight’s moves. The episodes of the 33rd season of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ recently aired on ABC and the All-Star’s venture into this reality show not only entertained millions but also inspired fans to emulate his moves, proving that Howard’s influence extends far beyond the basketball court. Such was the case with this follower.
The Orlando Magic veteran, along with her partner Daniella Karagach, chose salsa as their first dance and showed their moves by dancing to the hit song “This is How We Do It” by Montell Jordan. The fan also copied the same dance moves while performing with her dancing partner, laughing uncontrollably at the same time. She then posted the video on her Instagram Story and tagged both Howard and his pro partner Karagach. Hence, it can be speculated that “Superman” was impressed by his followers’ moves, and to show that he liked it, the former NBA player reacted to their post.

Now coming to show, it can be said that the duo had flabbergasted everyone with their moves. No one could have thought a player 6-foot-10 in height would have such a great chemistry with his partner, who is only 5-foot-3. Moreover, their choice of the song and the dance also played out well for them. In the first week of the show, Howard finished with a score of 22 out of 30 points, with 8 points from judge Carrie Ann Inaba and 7 points from the other two judges, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough. He currently sits in second place behind Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong with only one point difference.
Dwight Howard’s journey from NBA superstar to ‘Dancing with the Stars’ contestant to the center of a social media buzz exemplifies the multifaceted nature of modern celebrity. As fans start to show how they are inspired by the 38-year-old, his impact is solidified even further. However, this is not the first time that the former NBA player has appeared on TV.

While most may think that ‘Dancing with the Stars’ is Howard’s first stint on reality TV, they are wrong. Beyond his NBA career, Howard has showcased his talents on television and film numerous times.
One of the best noteworthy appearances of the All-Star was in the sixth season of the popular TV show “The Masked Singer”. He had appeared in the show disguised as an octopus and had surprised everyone with his singing skills. Unfortunately, he was eliminated during the two-night premiere of the show alongside Vivica A. Fox, who was disguised as “Mother Nature” and Toni Braxton as “Pufferfish”.
The other shows that Howard worked on are ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’ in 2006, The Suite Life on Deck in 2011, and Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test in 2023. Through his involvement in these projects, Dwight Howard has further solidified his status as a well-rounded individual.
