“Won’t ever say your name again ever again.” Sounds like closure, right? Not when Shaquille O’Neal and Dwight Howard are involved!
Yep, the infamous beef between the two former NBA stars is still alive. And judging by recent developments, it’s not ending anytime soon. If anything, Howard seems to have made it more intense by alleging that Shaq had negative emotions against two persons he holds close to himself: Kobe Bryant and Charles Barkley.
The latest chapter unfolded on X when Shaq made a post that didn’t sit well with Dwight. And, as expected, D12 fired back. “I know you care. Cuz yo insecure … been hating and talking … for 20 years. You too big to be this insecure. I hope you don’t bring my name up again. 52 years old tweeting me. And still hating,” Howard clapped back.

Ouch! But the ex-Laker didn’t stop there. The 3x Defensive Player of the Year claimed Shaquille O’Neal’s comments were never jokes but rooted in jealousy.
“Jealous of Kobe, Penny, D-Wade. You jealous of Charles too. Go move around big lazy insecure …,“ he wrote.
Now, despite his differences with Kobe once during his time in the league, Shaq always spoke highly of Black Mamba. And Barkley too once had a major in-game fight with Big Diesel but now the two stars have shared a great bond for decades. Thanks to their time on Inside the NBA. So the allegations against Shaq regarding these two names are something big. But only if Howard intended to stop at this point.
D12 even revealed Shaq once sent him a long, five-paragraph DM criticizing his career. “You’re still acting the same. Time to grow up,” he added.
I know you care. Cuz yo insecure ass been hating and talking shit for 20 years. You to big to be this insecure. I hope you don’t bring my name up again. 52 years old tweeting me. And still hating. Now all this time you was joking. You always been jealous. Jealous of Kobe,…

While Howard was responding to an X post by Shaquille O’Neal, D12 had himself made some comments earlier that triggered the 4x NBA champ. The comments came from the 3x DPOY during his appearance on the GAUDS show.
“You keep doing it, so I’m gonna have to talk to you man to man. I was finna roll up to the studio and be like, ‘Yo, what’s the deal?'” Howard said. “We’re still going on with the pettiness. At what point does it stop? Do you have a real issue? Let’s move past it… Sit down and have a conversation.”
Makes you wonder where it all started, doesn’t it?
A quick recap of the beef between Shaquille O’Neal and Dwight Howard
Shaq and Dwight share more similarities than you might think. Both were drafted by the Orlando Magic, mentored by Brian Hill and, yes, both had their infamous struggles at the free-throw line. Early in his career, Howard seemed to look up to Shaq, often praising him in interviews. The two even shared a fun moment during the 2007 NBA All-Star practice with a dance-off in Las Vegas.
But everything changed during the 2008 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Howard stole the show by donning a Superman t-shirt and cape—and he didn’t just dress the part; he won the contest!

The media quickly crowned him “Superman,” but that didn’t sit well with Shaq. To him, “Superman” wasn’t just a nickname; it was part of his identity. He has a tattoo to prove it and even cars with the iconic emblem.

No wonder Shaq didn’t hold back, accusing Howard of trying to steal his persona and questioning whether the then-Magic star had done enough to earn the title. Meanwhile, Howard’s spectacular dunking skills kept the nickname alive, much to Shaq’s annoyance.
And the feud? Oh, it’s far from over!
