After months of recruiting and campaigning, Dwight Howard has finally gotten an NBA player to transition to Taiwan. Earlier this year, when Howard hilariously called the underperforming players in the NBA playoffs to come and join him in Taiwan, fans were not expecting him to bring a former NBA superstar to the T1 league.
As hopes for an NBA return were slowly shutting down for DeMarcus Cousins, it was recently announced that Cousins was signing a deal with the Taiwan Beer Leopards. While this was happening, Howard wanted to remind people that his viral campaigning was finally paying off.

Dwight Howard shared a video on social media of him reacting to a graphic of DeMarcus Cousins in a Taiwan Beer Leopards jersey. While looking at it, he could only say two words: “Come on.“
As Cousins was one of the most skilled centers in the NBA before getting injured, Dwight Howard is hoping for him to drop Wilt Chamberlain-like numbers in Taiwan and even go to score 100 points in a single game.
After all the failed attempts to recruit NBA all-stars earlier this year, he is finally happy to get his first player to T1. Howard wrote on social media, “Lets Go! Aye @boogiecousins I need to see a Wilt 💯 game out there 👀💪🏾 I told my cousin last season to play in Taiwan and now he’s here! Leave a message if you want me to come see him live game 😂”

Even though Howard is no longer playing in Taiwan, he is excited to see his fellow big man take his talents to the Leopards and is rooting for him to succeed and pave the way for other stars to eventually join the T1 league.
Howard and Cousins struggling to find an NBA contract
Both DeMarcus Cousins and Dwight Howard have not played in the NBA since the 2021–22 season. Since then, Howard went on to play in Taiwan, and Cousins, on the other hand, had signed a deal to play in Puerto Rico. But both have shown interest in making a return to the NBA.

On the other hand, no team has yet shown an interest in taking a chance on these players. It is even more surprising to see that Cousins, who was dominating as one of the best centers in the league just 5 years ago, can’t find a role in the NBA even though he is just 32 years old.
Only time will tell if his joining the T1 league will help him get back to the NBA. But based on what Dwight Howard has shown us, the chances of that happening are still slim.
