During last year’s playoffs, Dwight Howard was targeting a return to the NBA. He even got the support of the Lakers fan base as they were looking for a Big. This season too, Rob Pelinka continues to search, even though he got the ‘biggest trade’ of the league done. After acquiring Luka Doncic and pairing him with LeBron James, the team still lacks a defender. While the fans want the 3x DPOY to return, he has other ideas. But who is the big man?

On his X, he added, “Don’t leave out boogie 33 or okafor 29 shid im bron age 🤷🏾‍♂️.” While suggesting DeMarcus Cousins and Jahlil Okafor as potential options for the Purple and Gold team, Dwight Howard had a realization. That he and LeBron age are just one year apart, maybe that’s why he is not keen on returning to the league. Let’s not forget that he also got married recently to Amy Luciani, as he continues to embrace life after basketball. The 38-year-old man feels he is too old to make a comeback to the biggest basketball stage now.

The former champion’s tweet was in reply to other Center options that the Lakers could target to help Luka and LeBron. After all, the trade to bring Mark Williams was rescinded due to a failed physical test. The 4 options in the tweet were JaVale McGee, Daniel Theis, Dwight Howard and Mo Bamba.

Mo Bamba, the big man, also played for the Lakers during the 2022-23 season. Jazz recently traded and then waived the 26-year-old, who could be the potential Williams replacement. Daniel Theis was recently part of the trade that brought him to Thunder from the Pelicans. But the OKC waived him and reports suggest Monaco are favorites to sign him if no other NBA team makes the move.

McGee was part of the squad that captured the championship in the Bubble, so he has worked with LeBron before. Currently, the 16-year NBA veteran is playing in Puerto Rico. But it’s not the only time when Dwight Howard suggested Centers to the Lakers.

This year could be the former champions’ HOF moment. However, he is yet to announce his retirement officially. But his tweets suggest he is done with the game. “Too bad I’m a podcaster now,” his recent tweet when asked about a return to help out the Lakers. Previously, he tweeted, “It ain’t that hard to find a center.”

Fans flooded his comment section, asking for the replacements. “Boogie, Javale, Okafor, kenneth… it’s a lot of options out there don’t mind me I just be trolling 😅.” A year changes a lot, last time when the Lakers lost to the Nuggets 4-1, was very vocal and was campaigning for his return to the league. Even the fans were certainly excited about the return.

Though the fans are still hoping for a return, the former champion seems to have moved on. That’s why he is suggesting multiple options for the Lakers to add and help LeBron James and Luka Doncic. It will be interesting to see if Rob Pelinka and Co. sign any name that DH-12 has suggested.
