Is Shannon Sharpe's agenda against Dwight Howard justified, or is it just a cheap shot?

This isn’t typical of Shannon Sharpe. After initially claiming he got hacked, the 56-year-old eventually admitted to having accidentally turned on his Instagram Live, leaking his intimate moment with a woman. He confessed that he had never done IG live before and wasn’t aware of it either. Despite his honest confessions, some still found the incident and his explanation behind it questionable. NBA star Dwight Howard is one of them. The reason?

The viral NSFW clip left netizens with mixed feelings. Questioning the motives of the 3x Super Bowl champion, Howard took to X to claim that he believed the video leak was intentional. The former Orlando Magic star hilariously suggested that Sharpe may have orchestrated the leak simply to boost his views. “He staged that for views 😂,” Howard wrote.

The NFL legend’s YouTube channels and Instagram handle consistently see his loyal followers engaging with all of his content. Sharpe even has his own podcast, Night Cap, where he clarified his stance on the incident. Nonetheless, Howard wasn’t done with this incident.

Further teasing Sharpe, the 38-year-old posted another message. “Unc turned night cap to morning cap,” the former NBA champion wrote. The Night Cap podcast attracts 36 million monthly views and has 2 million subscribers. After a legendary NFL career, the former tight end has become a prominent media figure. He began his work as an analyst for CBS’s sports pregame show and went on to feature in a few others.

So, was this all just for likes, or was it truly a mistake? While many claim it to be an intentional act, Sharpe insists it was the latter.

Shannon Sharpe expressed regret for what happened

Addressing the matter, he clarified that he wasn’t hacked, as he initially shared with the fans. The NFL great shared that he wasn’t ashamed of his actions but, as a professional, he regretted how they were leaked.

“Obviously, I’m embarrassed. Someone that is extremely, extremely private, and to have one of your most intimate details, the audio heard for the entire world to hear, I’m embarrassed for a number of reasons,” Sharpe cleared the air.

Many believed and supported Sharpe. His co-host Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson consistently showed his support. But there are an equal number of critics as well.

Howard isn’t the only one teasing the media veteran. Sharpe’s celebrity friends have also shared their takes. Former wide receiver Terrell Owens joked that everyone at ESPN would be busy trying to cover up the matter. While the network likely did get busy, Sharpe chose to start with honesty.
