The age-old debate continues to persist. Due to the godhood status given to Michael Jordan, the NBA Championships are the pinnacle of assessing a player’s career. However, with the current landscape, that invariably leads to the formation of superteams. As a result, a direct impact is on the player’s wages. But, do championships negate that monetary impact? Recently, the leading force behind the Sacramento Kings gave his opinion on the matter. But, his message came across as disrespectful towards Kobe Bryant.

Due to the existing hard caps, players aiming for championships have to take significant pay cuts. It’s been a constant through all super teams. What did the first-ever Clutch Player of the Year winner have to say on the matter?

Kobe Bryant – disrespected?

There isn’t much debate about the authority and respect the name Kobe Bryant alone demands. A beloved figure, he was an icon, an inspiration, a mentor, and a role model to many current superstars. As such, his voice and words held a lot of weight.

However, De’Aaron Fox stood completely against that idea. “I can tell you with 100% certainty that nobody would care if Kobe disagreed with them. With all due respect to a legend.” His comments came as a direct result of Stephen Jackson’s rant. Taking to social media, Jackson laid into the current crop of players.

Kobe only wanted to win. That was always his motivation. So he might have had an issue with this generation of stars choosing money over titles. Fox, though, believes no one would care if Kobe disagreed with players prioritizing money over titles.

While the initial response to his comments was outrage, De’Aaron’s overall point did have some backing. Moreover, it wasn’t some regular name backing him up. Instead, it was the Los Angeles Lakers legend himself, whose name Fox tried to invoke.

Even though the debate is one with no clear, definitive answer, both sides do put up valid arguments. Whether choosing financial security or universal glory is more important might become a matter of personal opinion. However, the NBA has never had conversations with that degree of nuance. As a result, the rant by Jackson that gave way to the entire discussion was without any filter, to say the least.

The entire debate comes around due to Stephen Jackson

In a bid to talk about that same divide, Stax was firmly in the corner of the Championships. As a result, his comments became a direct shot at players who instead opt for money. “Talkin? about ?I?ll take a $100 million and f? the championship.? Nah, I?ll take $50 million and that championship. But you not a winner.”?

But Fox was clearly against that idea. “Everybody wants to win but at the same time y?all know sports are jobs right?” However, it wasn’t Fox randomly pulling out Bean’s name. Instead, his comments led fans to come after him, with one inciting the name of the Mamba.
