Scottie Pippen is making a big move, combining basketball and crypto, but fans are not digging the promotional tactics. Notably, the former Chicago Bulls star had recently announced his move of tokenizing the Game 5 Ball from the 1991 NBA Finals series. The ball holds significant importance as it was the Game 5 win against the Los Angeles Lakers in 1991 that marked the beginning of the Bulls dynasty. The first championship win for both Pippen and Michael Jordan. And with the decision to tokenize the ball, Pip has undertaken some marketing tactics as well.

Seemingly, one of the most recent ones is his dream, where he met Satoshi Nakamoto, as claimed by him in a post on ‘X’. The 7x All-Star claimed Nakamoto was proud that Pip was opening a new lane for #RWA in the crypto market. Apparently, bringing the Game 5 ball to the blockchain seemed a great move to Nakamoto as it let Pippen “pass history to the community, innovate sports, and bring a real-world sports object to decentralization.”

“Satoshi said, ‘If you don’t believe me or don’t get RWA, I don’t have time to try to convince you, sorry.’ Where there’s Satoshi, there’s room to be the best. Be like Satoshi,” further read the post. Just to remind the fans, Satoshi Nakamoto is a pseudonymous person/s, who not only developed Bitcoin but also created and deployed Bitcoin’s original reference implementation. And further, devised the first blockchain database as part of the aforementioned implementation.

And this is not the first time that Scottie Pippen has referenced Nakamoto after his announcement. “There was Satoshi Nakamoto and then there is Scottie Pippen,” he wrote in a previous post. Meanwhile, there have been some who advised the ex-Bulls star against his move. One such person is the leading Bitcoiner and co-founder of MicroStrategy, Michael Saylor. He told Pip to purchase Bitcoin, highlighting that Satoshi would suggest to him the same. However, the 6x NBA champ’s recent X post has not gone well with netizens to a great extent.

Fans react to Scottie Pippen’s claim of meeting Satoshi Nakamoto in his dream

There is no denying that cryptocurrency investments come with their own set of risks. And multiple fans and experts have already doubted Pippen’s move. One such user trolled Pip and said he should rather stick to what multiple other stars like Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley have at some point been involved in — Gambling. “Scottie stick to losing money with traditional forms of gambling,” he stated.

Meanwhile, one user believes the former Bulls star is using Satoshi’s name to further his move of tokenizing the Game 5 ball and tricking his fans. “Please stop scamming your followers and fans. Bad!” he commented.

As mentioned earlier, Satoshi Nakamoto is the name of a pseudonymous person/s who developed Bitcoin. But despite being anonymous, the person has huge respect in the cryptocurrency investment scenario. In fact, he even has a statue dedicated to him in Budapest. So one user just could not tolerate that someone would use Satoshi’s name, seemingly in vain. “Don’t you dare use Satoshi for your CRAPTO pipp-in-dump,bro. You have no idea how stupid this cringe money grab looks,” he wrote.

The only relief for Scottie Pippen against the wrath of fans could come if it turns out this post was never made by him. “is this real or were you hacked? There’s no way one of the greatest NBA players of all time is doing this,” one user expressed the possibility of it. Pippen is considered one of the greatest defenders the league has ever produced along with being one of the most agile and versatile players which would explain his 6 NBA rings.

Meanwhile, another doubted it could be Pip’s “some out of touch marketing team” who told him to write the tweet.
