How many cars should a man with $500 million own? Is 40 too many? Be it a Chevy Express or an Italian Lamborghini, Shaquille O’Neal‘s car collection is rich. The question is how often he splurges on cars, and often unknowingly. The Lakers legend once admitted to buying three expensive cars just because a salesman upset him. His car collection can be assumed to be wild. But his latest confession about his cars is almost something unbelievable.

During his appearance on the Unapologetically Angel podcast with Angel Reese, the basketball legend confessed where he hides his secrets and that is in his cars. When Reese asked if O’Neal lets women go through his phone, he replied “No.” The WNBA star then asked if anyone had ever gone through his phone, and this time, he admitted.

But O’Neal explained that no one would find anything on his phone since his secrets are on forty different phones in forty different cars! “It ain’t locked ’cause it’s called other phone in one of my other cars I got 40 cars if you figure out which car my other phone is in, you can go through it, but you’re not,” Shaq confessed. That would mean someone would have to search through O’Neal’s 40 cars, likely stored in his various homes.

Yes, O’Neal said that he owns 40 cars! Are we even surprised? The Lakers legend recently bought two Tesla models since he loves them and has been looking for one that fits him for a long time. This was despite his confession that he wouldn’t buy any more cars.

Shaquille O’Neal owns three Tesla Cybertrucks

The Lakers legend has struggled to find the right car that he can fit into. He has spent a lot to customize his cars. O’Neal even had to stretch Lamborghinis and Ferraris to make them fit his 7-ft-1 frame. However, he recently came across Effortless Motors. This was thanks to a misunderstanding between the company and LeBron James. But that is how O’Neal came to know about the company and was amazed to find that they had cars he could buy. So, O’Neal bought his first Tesla Cybertruck. Following that, he bought his second Tesla Cybertruck.

And there’s a third car as well. But this wasn’t bought by O’Neal. The company Effortless Motors, with Shaq’s best friend Anthony Hall, presented him with this car, about which O’Neal himself wasn’t even aware. It was a surprise and placed in O’Neal’s home in Las Vegas.

What’s your perspective on:

Is hiding secrets in 40 cars a genius move or just Shaq's eccentricity on display?

“Big surprise! Effortless Motors has gifted @shaq the rare 1/100 Waido wide body 360 kit, topped off with stunning 26-inch Forgiatos! 🚗💨 This ride is an absolute masterpiece, and we can’t wait to see it hit the streets! Get ready for more jaw-dropping builds coming your way!” the auto dealership company wrote in its Instagram post.

Like his first two cars, he wouldn’t mind adding another to his collection. The second one was a simple yet intricate model, which was specially customized for O’Neal. And the third one is also special. It’s one of the 100 Waido Live Body Cybertrucks, featuring 26-inch Forgiatos-custom wheels.

O’Neal wasn’t initially fond of the Tesla Cybertruck. However, the issue was his height. He couldn’t fit into Tesla creations and even asked his son not to buy one. But the temptation took over him after he found one that could fit him inside.

While this was just a gift for the basketball legend, there have been other instances where he splurged far more than necessary

Shaquille O’Neal made a mistake in buying three expensive cars

The Lakers legend once walked into a Rolls-Royce showroom to check out some cars. However, the salesman didn’t recognize him and doubted he could afford one. That led him to hesitate in showing any of the high-end models. Feeling frustrated and insulted, the Los Angeles Lakers legend decided to buy not one, but three luxurious Rolls-Royce cars.

He first purchased a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, priced at $375,000. He could have stopped there, but he didn’t. Next, he added a Rolls-Royce Phantom to his collection, which came with a price tag of $460,000. The details of the third car remain unknown, but it’s safe to say it was just as lavish as the first two.

However, O’Neal quickly regretted his impulsive purchases, as he never actually used any of the cars. Today, all three Rolls-Royce cars sit untouched in one of his garages. “Now, I’m p*ssed. I said, ‘What the f*ck you just said to me?’ So I buy three. That one, that one, and that one, and I want them dropped off, move the seat back today. So I got 3 Rolls-Royces that I never drive, so there goes another million,” O’Neal said on the Drink Champs Podcast.

He certainly has many such cars, so it’s not surprising that his collection might add up to 40 or more, even if he forgot to count a few. Having done the coast-to-coast trip, playing for 6 NBA teams during his career, the 4x champion is well versed. Now, owning a little piece of places he liked isn’t bad.
