Shaq’s real estate portfolio is like himself – larger than life. Other than the famous Superman fortress in Orlando and mega-mansions in Texas, Nevada, Georgia, and the Bahamas, Shaquille O’Neal has more residences than the public knows. A few weeks ago, he gave the first glimpse of one of his international havens. The sheer grandeur of the home has his fans in disbelief. His side gig as DJ Diesel took him to Macau. An official residence there could mean only one thing.
Shaq’s connection to Macau spans back many years. He’s even responsible for reviving the entertainment destination. By adding a home here to his portfolio, O’Neal is ensuring that connection continues.

O’Neal had visited Asia on a fun-filled business tour in recent months. During one visit, he gave a virtual tour of his newest real estate purchase – a luxurious penthouse in Macau to his social media followers. He opened with, “I just bought a penthouse in Macau. Come check it out.” The home gives anyone watching every reason to be floored.
The penthouse apparently comes with its own staff, who had a brief cameo in the video. Shaq referred to them as his bodyguards from the CIA. He even threw in a request for 4-5 club sandwiches for himself. He proceeded to show a theater room equipped with a giant TV and a karaoke setup. The 7’1″ giant is nearly touching the roof of this entertainment room where he claimed he practices his freestyle raps. In no specific order, he showed off the massage room with the added caveat, “Not that I get massages.”
The highlight might be the massive bathroom, complete with gold accents. The shower and tub are definitely DIESEL-sized, surrounded by mirrors and golden floors. Some of the other decor in the house, like the banisters, also had a gold overlay which Shaq claims has an interesting origin. “I have a lot of gold in my reserve and I’m getting older. I didn’t know what to do with them. So I just put it in the interior.” Yeah, we totally get you Shaq.
He didn’t exactly show the master bedroom but showed the guestroom that’s as massive and stunning as you’d expect. The bedrooms and the living room have exquisite ceiling-to-floor windows to let in some of Macau’s natural light when you’re not using the gorgeous chandeliers. The living room also had a massive decadent marble island where Shaq’s entourage was occupied handling his business. We also spotted two televisions and a grand piano in the living room.

Funnily, the cameraman sounded like they were gasping for air during the tour. Which is understandable with how breathtaking O’Neal’s new home is. It is no vacation home, though.

While it wouldn’t be surprising for O’Neal to have overseas residences, he usually doesn’t disclose them. So this new revelation was a bit of a shocker. He, however, stated the purpose of the splurge within the video itself.
Shaq’s Macau escapades
Shaquille O’Neal said at the start of the video, “Gonna be doing a lot of business in China,” which is evident. Since 2023, he’s been to China as a Papa John’s spokesperson and promoting the NBA while hanging out with Yao Ming. His Macau stop was special, though. Like Las Vegas, Shaq has a special affinity for the entertainment destination. Only natural for him to be a part of it.

Shaq was the biggest draw to the Golden Week festivities in Macau in 2023. He kick-started the event with an EDM performance at the Wynn Palace poolside party in October. At that point, Macau was still struggling to bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, Typhoon Saola delayed re-opening. Golden Week had always been Macau’s best season and biggest economic gain. But it had not picked up traction until Big Diesel was in town.
After the pandemic caused Macau’s casino industry nearly $15 billion in revenue decline, Shaq’s arrival restored about 72% toward pre-pandemic levels. It’s no wonder Macau loves him and will welcome him here any time.
