Prenups are most common among celebrity marriages. The stars often ask their spouses to sign prenup agreements before their wedding to protect their assets. These prenuptial agreements often have clauses that honor the wishes of both parties. Sources suggest that La La Anthony signed a prenuptial agreement before her wedding to Carmelo Anthony in 2010 after dating for a long period since 2003.

As a family law expert explained in E-News Report, “If there’s a prenuptial agreement, all bets are off because the prenuptial agreement has the possibility of affecting the division of property and possibly the alimony also.” He further added, “Without a prenuptial agreement, every time he gets a paycheck for playing basketball, 50 percent of it is hers.”

The two were married for 11 years and even with a prenup, the actress could have demanded a decent amount for alimony from the Basketball legend. She currently has a net worth of $30 million. Well, much of it comes from La La’s various business endeavors. The series La La’s Full Court Life showed La La’s married life with the celebrity basketball player. She has starred in various hit shows in the last few years including Power and BMF.

But, there are chances of certain clauses in the deal that could allow his ex-wife to claim more than what is mentioned. One such aspect is infidelity. Carmelo Anthony was rumored to have cheated on his ex-wife during their marriage.

The couple initially separated in 2017. Although they decided to reconcile in 2018 and then again after the COVID-19 quarantine in 2020, La La Anthony filed for divorce one year later. Recently, Melo’s daughter’s seventh birthday was celebrated, which once again led fans to express their doubts and concerns on the matter. Although both have never confirmed these rumors, La La Anthony has openly discussed the difficulties she and her son Kiyan faced when rumors of Melo’s infidelity surfaced. “La La is looking at easily $60,000-$100,000 a month in child support. Then it would be up to [Carmelo] to say that’s insane and say that the reasonable needs of the child are going to be somewhere in the $15,000-$30,000 range,” the report read

The NBA legend earned nearly $262 million from his NBA career. He was ranked 36 among the top richest Athletes in 2016, the year before everything went wrong. Speaking of how it would affect Melo’s $160 million net worth, the law expert said, “Anything that Carmelo would get under $15,000 would be a win for him and anything above $25,000 would be a loss for him. $15,000-$25,000 is what I would predict is the range, but a judge could simply…say, ‘Here’s what the number is, pay it.’ Carmelo’s lawyer’s job is to reduce that number.”

There are numerous athletes such as Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and more who had to dish out millions for their divorce settlement. This is all that we have on the Knicks legend.
