When asked about the GOAT, most spectators may come down to one name after shortlisting from 90’s players: Michael Jordan. But basketball icons have something else to say. In a recent episode of Shaq’s Big Podcast, JJ Redick dropped bombshells about the greatest NBA player of all time.
At first, JJ preferred not to touch upon the subject when asked about Michael Jordan. However, after a couple of minutes, he made some bold statements. “A lot of times, we’re comparing eras,…I’ll say this with Michael Jordan, and I don’t mean this to be controversial. During his Heyday, six teams were added to the NBA. There were 90 players added to the NBA,” revealed Redick.
He added, “You’re not telling me that the league for a little bit is going to be a little watered down?” As the interview got aired, it garnered attention from people all across the internet. Not only basketball fans but famous personalities like Gilbert Arenas too dived into the conversation.

To share his insights about JJ Reddick’s perspective on Michael Jordan, Gil sat with his team and posted the glimpse of the interview on his official YouTube account with the title, “Gil’s Arena DESTROYS JJ Redick For Disrespecting Jordan.” Now, the question is, what were Gil’s thoughts on JJ’s disrespecting Jordan?
Gils’s take on Redick
While targeting Redick for his bold statements, Gil said, “So in theory, you’re not watering it down because the players that are being picked are all NBA players, right? So yeah, the talent gets spread, but there’s no free agents that’s sitting on the market, like, you know, we’re not picking somebody who ain’t played in 20 years, being, you know, we’re not putting them on our team....Do your homework“.
Moving on, Gil not only defended Michael Jordan but also made everything crystal clear by providing some estimates. He added, “So, it didn’t help Jordan yet. It helped Detroit Pistons. They just turned. They wouldn’t even turn it over yet. Remember, this is the Detroit Pistons’ two championships. 89-90, yeah. So this is not Michael Jordan’s reign yet.”
But the debate doesn’t end here. Now, people are looking forward to Michael Jordan’s response to this. Now, the question is: Will Jordan, just like his supporters, dive into the fervent debates? Stay tuned to know more!
