While NBA athletes are all incredibly popular, the superstars have their own aura. Even amongst them, the cream of the crop, the all-time greats, ascend to another level. However, Michael Jordan stands 0n a mountain all by his lonesome when it comes to star power. Whether it’s the attitude and the swag or the marketability, Jordan has long transcended the sport. But, that godhood can also bring about some embarrassingly funny encounters.
Speaking to his newest colleague, Stephen A. Smith shed some light on one such incident.

While he’s long been the most recognizable name in sports television, Smith is constantly evolving. Even though his credentials are airtight with a lengthy resume, he’s still finding new lands to conquer. After years of TV dominance, his attention is now on online platforms. Whether it is podcasts or interviews, the summer months have seen Stephen A. Smith take over NBA Youtube.
As a result, a lot of previously unheard stories have come to light. Furthermore, the man has been at his excitable, impressionable best through these appearances.
However, aside from a beef-ending appearance with Paul George, no episode was more looked forward to than the one with Shannon Sharpe. Appearing on his podcast,?Club Shay Shay,?the two soon-to-be colleagues went at it on all topics.
Whether Zion Williamson or the GOAT debate, the two partook in every discussion under the sun. Showing his prior knowledge of Smith, Sharpe began telling a story about a scary encounter Stephen had with Mike.
“I got a call today from one Michael Jordan he rolled up on me in a black SUV.” ?Smith, always ready to get the last word, finished it off. “That’s true. Yeah, that was scary. I thought he was gonna shoot. I thought it was a drive-by…Scared the living hell out of me.”?
As the two men and future partners broke down into laughter, the stories are different now. Thankfully, these days Michael prefers texting when he needs to communicate with ESPN’s MVP.

The entire story came to light due to one of the hottest topics of the summer. The GOAT PG debate. Due to Stephen Curry stating his place alongside Magic Johnson on a podcast, the debate instantly came alive.
Smith has long claimed MJ to be his GOAT. But the best point guard ever is a separate conversation. While campers exist on both sides, Stephen A. was the most boisterous in claiming Steph as the winner. However, the Chicago Bulls legend felt the need to weigh in.
As a result, he sent a text to Smith detailing why Magic was ahead of the Golden State Warriors superstar. While Smith remained adamant on his side, it was a rare case of MJ putting himself in the limelight. Perhaps, it was with the interest of not scaring SAS once again.
