Is Marcus Jordan's car collection a tribute to his father or a statement of his own success?

A man’s best friend is… a car! And the Jordans are keeping up with the changing times. Remember when Michael Jordan would pull up to games in his fancy cars? The Chicago Bulls legend isn’t only remembered for his gravity-defying dunks or six NBA championships, but his legendary car collection also takes center stage. Now, his son Marcus Jordan is making headlines, not by following his father’s basketball path but by emulating his love for automobiles.

The 33-year-old basketball player-turned-CEO recently turned heads at his father’s $20 million Grove XXIII Golf Club. However, it was not with his golf swings but by boasting a stunning yellow Ferrari SF90 Stardale on his Instagram Story. The same also featured the song ‘D4L’ by Future, Drake, and Young Thug. The four-wheeler is indeed a dream car for many. It has a 4-litre twin-turbo engine that has a maximum horsepower of 986 HP and can reach 0 to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds. And as the saying goes ‘everything that is good comes with a price‘, this car’s worth also ranges from $590,000 to $995,000 depending on the trim and options.

Moreover, this revelation has also raised some eyebrows, with fans questioning if the former basketball GOAT’s son is changing his ride or not. Just a few months back, it was revealed that Jordan had stepped onto the path of collecting luxurious cars by purchasing a brand-new Rolls Royce Cullinan, valued at $325,000. The car had massive features under its hood with a 6.7-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that had a horsepower of 571 HP. But there was one feature that topped everything: the car’s paint job. It matched the bright red color of the Windy City’s basketball team which can said to be an ode to his father.

However, the timing of this post by Marcus couldn’t be more telling. His ex-girlfriend Larsa Pippen recently opened up about the challenges she faced while dating Marcus. In an emotional interview with Page Six, she revealed the complexities of their relationship and talked about lifestyle differences. “I thought when I got divorced, I really thought it would be … not so hard to meet a person that I could be with. And I’m starting to realize … it’s not as easy as I thought it was going to be,said Larsa during the interview.

Whether this Ferrari showcase is a statement of independence, a response to recent personal events, or simply an appreciation for fine automobiles remains debatable. Marcus continues to navigate the complex waters of being Michael Jordan’s son while trying to establish his own legacy. Still, it would be an injustice if we only mention Marcus’s cars and not his father’s.

The long list of Fancy Cars owned by Michael Jordan

As mentioned earlier, the 6x NBA champion was not only known for the metal in the championship rings. Before we get into what hot rides the former shooting guard owns did you know that his first car endorsement deal was not from a luxurious car maker? It was with Chevrolet in 1984 that Jordan had his stint in car deals which ultimately accelerated his desire for owning cars. The Chevrolet deal used to fetch up about $200,000 per year for His Airness which was quite a hefty amount back then, keeping his bank account full.

Have an interesting take?

As for his garage, a Chevrolet Corvette C4, Porsche 930 Turbo Cabriolet, Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir, Ferrari 512 Testarossa, and Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster were enough. Jordan’s love for cars went so far that at a point, he ended up owning a NASCAR team.

“Everyone knows that I have always been a fierce competitor, and that will to win is what drives me and the entire 23XI team each and every week out on the track. I love the sport of racing and the passion of our fans, but the way NASCAR is run today is unfair to teams, drivers, sponsors, and fans,” said Jordan once about owning the team.

Moreover, Jordan is not only claiming the roads with his greatness but has also shown his aura by reigning the seas with his $80 million superyacht named ‘Joy’ and also conquering the sky with his $70 million Gulfstream G650ER Jet. It can be said that his collection is a reflection of his success, his passion for a fast life, and his desire for the finer things in life.
