“I think the main thing for kids is to have them believe in themselves,” were the empathetic words said by Dwyane Wade once. It can be noted that only a few names glow as brightly as that of Wade. However, Wade’s most remarkable achievement may not be his NBA success but his ability to be a family man, and this time his wife was quick to touch on a decision that he made 13 years ago.

Gabrielle Union recently took to her Instagram to post a picture of Wade’s nephew Dahveon Morris. In her post, Union expressed her love and admiration for Dahveon. “I can’t believe @dahveon_ is 23!! We love you Kiddo!!,” wrote Union as the caption. Dahveon was born on September 17, 2001, to the older sister of Wade, Deanna Morris but started living with his uncle, when Wade got his custody in 2011.

Wade’s decision to take Dahveon into his family is a testament to his generosity and compassion. He currently lives with his cousins Zaire, Zaya, Xavier, and Kaavia. During his school years, the bond with his cousin Zaire grew strong as they both played in the basketball team of Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles. Additionally, Wade’s nephew played at American Heritage School in Miami, Florida. 

Moreover, this wasn’t the only time that Dahveon’s aunt and uncle had posted about him. In 2019, Union took to her Instagram to share how stylishly Dahveon was dressed for his Prom night. “PROM!!!!!,” read the caption of the post. Dwyane Wade has not only achieved great success on the court but off the court as well. He raises 4 kids and has a nephew from his relationships with Siovaughn Funches, Aja Metoyer, and Gabrielle Union. 

First, there is Zaire Wade and Zara Wade, the NBA champion’s kids whom he fathered with his high school sweetheart, Siovaughn Funches. Zaire is now 22 years old and like his father, he is making a name for himself on the basketball court. He played for the Salt Lake City Star in the NBA’s G-League in the 2021-2022 season and he is, at the moment, a player for Macau Black Bears in ASEAN Basketball League. 

On the other hand, Zaya who is 17 years of age openly accepted to be transgender in 2012. However, that never deterred her. She remains highly active with her impact on the internet as an influencer, as well as a model. 

Next is 10-year-old Xavier whom Wade had with Aja Metoyer in 2013 and lastly comes the 5-year-old Kaavia that Wade and Union had through surrogacy in 2018. For her facial expressions, the little one was given the nickname “Shady Baby” and her mother has also published a book under this name.
