In order to reach peak physical condition, athletes substitute most of their social life with training and sleep. Apart from this, one of the most important sacrifices they make is to ignore their cravings for unhealthy food.

However, NBA icon Dwight Howard seems to have walked a different path. He revealed shocking details about his early NBA diet .

In an interview with American journalist Graham Bensinger, NBA champion Dwight Howard made an honest confession. When the host asks the former NBA star, “You’re obviously in incredible shape. Before we get into that, what was your diet like in your early NBA days?”.

The former Lakers replied, “I used to eat a lot of candy. Coming from the South, my grandad would give us a big ten-pack of the fun-sized Snickers and Baby Ruth whenever we would go visit him. That’s why I developed that sweet tooth.”. Dwight Howard further explained, “As I got older, I just kept going. I started to love Skittles. All I wanted was Skittles, Skittles, Skittles and Star Bursts.. you know, I couldn’t stop. Then I fell in love with Honey Buns. I would at least eat 4-5 of them a day.”.

When the host reconfirms that all of this was during his playing days in the NBA, the NBA champion replied, “Oh yeah. One season was McDonald’s before every game.”. When the host asked him, “What would you get?”, Dwight confessed, “2 cheese burgers, 1 large fries, strawberry chocolate milkshake and a large coke. And then go have like the best game of my life.”.

Dwight Howard smiled as he said, “I told myself “I’ve got to keep this going” and then I got older and I was like “Nah this is not right””. The former NBA star was a force to be reckoned with when he first joined the league. His physical fitness and his dunking prowess outshined everyone else’s, earning him the nickname “Superman” and $19,540,874 as a rookie. So what is Dwight Howard up to now?
