The last 24 hours must have been a nightmare for fans of the purple and gold jersey. The Boston Celtics have now officially taken over the Lakers in the championship table after they delivered their 18th title yesterday. The ardent fans of the Lakeshow were devastated and Magic Johnson was in his feelings too. The 5x champion openly claimed that he hates the new reality. Just a day later, Cookie Johnson also joined the trend, subtly showcasing her disappointment, in a wholesome note to Jrue Holiday

It looks like the Johnson family has known Holiday for quite a few years. Johnson’s wife Cookie wrote on her Instagram, “Congratulations to the Celtics for winning the NBA championship!! Jrue Holiday went to school with EJ and Elisa[Johnson’s kids] and we’ve known the Holiday family for a while! I’m so proud of him for earning his second ring.” Sounds like a sweet note, doesn’t it?

Here comes the best part, “Even though this one had to be with the Celtics,” added Cookie towards the end. There you go. Cookie seems to be on par with her husband’s disappointment with the victory. The Los Angeles Lakers icon wrote on X yesterday, “I hate that the Celtics officially have more championships than us now“, publicly showcasing his rivalry once again. The only shot at redemption is the Lakers winning another championship.

Holiday is a 2x champion now. He was only acquired by the Celtics in the off-season and has already grown to be considered one of the best decisions. Thus, his time with the Celtics could only be a start. More so, considering he has agreed to a four-year, $135 million contract extension with the Celtics. Although Johnson hates to see Holiday in a Celtics jersey, he hasn’t failed to admire the 34-year-old’s two-way performance.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been the face of the Boston Celtics for several years now. A few notable names have joined the team in the last few seasons, but Brown and Tatum have been permanent. With Jrue Holiday delivering a flawless season, the fans are willing to put him in the same conversation as the young duo of the Celtics, just like Johnson.

Magic Johnson revealed the three leaders of the Boston Celtics yesterday after they won their championship. After Brown and Tatum, it was Holiday who made the list. Johnson was also appreciative of general manager Brad Stevens, for bringing Holiday to the Celtics unit. “The addition of Holiday made them the best perimeter defense team in the league,” he wrote.

The 3x MVP definitely hates the fact of the win, but he did not fail to give them their flowers for sitting at the top of the table. Now that the season is over, it is time for Johnson to get his revenge through the Lakers. He has given suggestions for the team on ‘X’ all season, which he will likely keep at.
