During his tenure, very few players got the better of the NBA’s widely recognized GOAT. Among them, the name that comes up first is none other than Isiah Thomas. In the 1990s, no player or team was able to “get” more over Michael Jordan than the Detroit Pistons. Since then, the intensity of their rivalry has only gone up. Whether it be disrespectful comments or dirty politics, the two can never see eye to eye.

Recently, Thomas made clear the reason for the beef between the two. However, he also had a surprising invitation for Mike.

Throughout their careers, MJ was finally able to beat Isiah in the 1991 playoffs. However, by then, the Pistons team was getting old and did not hold the same prowess it once had. But, despite his triumph, the rivalry continued, leading to the ugliness behind the?Dream Team.?

Still, Zeke is ready to have a conversation on one condition. Firstly, he began with a recap of the truth of the 1980s decade. “An accurate memory of how the 80s were, and who were the guys in the 80s. It was Dr.J Julius Erving, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson – those were the guys.”?But, the 2x NBA Champion himself acknowledged how that list is labeled as “hating on Michael Jordan“.

To that, Isiah had a rebuttal. “That’s just how it was. Jordan won in the 90s. In the 80s, in my time period, the Pistons, the Lakers, the Celtics, and the 76ers – those were the 4 champions.”?Thomas went on to explain how he wasn’t an active part of the next decade. “I wasn’t in the league. I was an owner, I was the first black owner. Those are facts.”

The 62-year-old further took some shots at the media. “So, somehow the media has framed my accurate, factual statements as hate.”?Thomas was quick to iterate, “I don’t hate anybody. If the brother came here and sat down today and wanted to have an honest conversation ? keyword, honest ? I?m down for it.?

But an honest conversation could be hard to negate. One thing to discuss in such a hypothetical is the unique record Zeke has over MJ.

Isiah’s Finals Record vs Michael Jordan’s Finals Record

Despite holding a perfect 6-0 series record in the NBA Finals, there is another area that Mike falls short of the Detroit Pistons legend. During his 6 trips, Michael would go on to lose 11 games, landing him, along with Scottie Pippen, an overall record of 24-11 and a winning percentage of 68.57%.

On the other hand, Isiah would hold an 11-5 record over his three trips, with 68.75%. While this is not a stat Thomas would gloat over, it is something that gives him an edge. However, MJ would take 6 championships over a higher winning percentage any day. With plenty of history to uncover, a heart-to-heart between the two legends would make for a compelling watch. Perhaps the true story behind the Dream Team,?that Charles Barkley revealed, would finally come out.
