Magic Johnson is big on his family time. Birthdays, family trips, and festivals, the Johnson couple is all here for it. Just days ago, they celebrated four birthdays in the family in what seemed like a glamorous event and now they are back again together for Christmas, leaving no traces of differences that once briefly existed.

“We are so blessed to be able to bring everyone together for this holiday season and we’ve loved every minute of quality time with our loved ones!” the couple shared in a collaborative post as tens of friends and family filled the frame. There was equal amounts food and decor, screaming absolute holiday cheer. “we’ve loved every minute of quality time with our loved ones!” the couple added.

Magic Johnson also revealed they flew everyone in, making it the most memorable event. “this Christmas will be one we’ll never forget!” he writes.

Among the many present, the Johnson couple ensured to dedicate a slide or two for their kids — EJ, Elisa, and Andre. The last time the bunch was photographed together was when Magic and Cookie were summer vacationing the European islands on their yacht. It was all love and smiles then too. But that wasn’t always the dynamic with Johnson and his son EJ shared.

As per the 2018 episode of Red Table Talk, the wife of the Lakers legend explained the first reaction wasn’t positive when EJ came out of the closet. In fact, Cookie Johnson stated that her husband first said “hurtful” words. However, after having a few conversations with his wife, Magic Johnson understood his response “wasn’t right.” EJ, during the same interview, revealed that later he and his dad shared an emotional moment a day after the initial reaction.

“We’re going to get through this, and I just need time.” The 5x NBA Champion shared words of encouragement with his son and later cried. From that day till today, Magic Johnson hasn’t looked back in supporting EJ Johnson.

In fact earlier this year, the 12x All-Star also celebrated EJ’s special day with a heartwarming caption. “What a fabulous dinner to celebrate EJ’s birthday tonight! As a parent, it’s always a joy to see my kids happy!” Yes, the former Michigan State alum is truly happy for his kid’s success and even shared how other celebrity parents took it as a means of inspiration.

“No way we were not gonna support our son. No way we were gonna not love him, as we tell him, be who you want to be, we gonna love you regardless, we gonna support you.” The Lakers legend spoke to People in 2022 and shared how his support for his son brought changes in the mindset of other parents.

“And then because of that, Dwyane and Gabs said, ‘Oh man, look at that.’ We are looking at out part, do our own thing with our own son, so if we can help anybody just by being who we are, just by doing the right thing, that’s a good thing and a powerful thing.” As per Magic Johnson, his support for his son EJ led Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union to open up more about their daughter Zaya and her journey.

EJ is taking charge of his career and the 5x champion is as proud as he could be. “He knows how and what he wants to get into,” he says. EJ has become more than just the son of an NBA icon, with a $10 million net worth. Even though the first reaction wasn’t ideal one, Magic Johnson came around.
