Movies and series on the best basketball careers and moments have been celebrated by fans across the world. ‘The Last Dance‘ and ‘Redeem Team‘, etc. are a few blockbusters that created an impact. One such series is HBO’s ‘Winning Time’, which is an attempt to capture the rich history the Los Angeles Lakers. Although the hype was through the roof initially, the representation of a few stars and legends of the team has turned the show into an upset for some. Given the tens of millions of followers the franchise has on its social media handles, there were a lot of opinions floating around before the release of the show’s second season. But perhaps one from a Lakers insider is worth taking note of.
The 61-year-old decided to share an emotional connection that is making her watch the series even after all the criticism it has received.

President of the Lakers reveals why she watches ‘Winning Time’
The TV series follows the early success of the Lakers and how they built one of the most powerful franchises in NBA history. Thus, the cast involves actors playing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Pat Riley, the Buss family and a few more Lakers legends.
Sadly, not all the former superstars represented in the show enjoyed their portrayal. First was The Captain, Kareem, who shared a harsh take in an interview. The 6-time champion revealed, “I watched half the first episode and it’s ridiculous…I don’t want to talk about it.”

However, when it comes to the President of the Lakers organization, she has a different opinion. Jeanie Buss, daughter of late Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss, believes, “Some of it[Winning Time] is very wrong.” Yet, the show stole her heart by its depiction of her father’s life.

Jeanie Buss added, “I think John. C. Reilly has done a really good job at capturing Dr. Buss[Jerry Buss]. Some people are like, ‘I can’t believe you are watching that show!’ “
Dr. Jerry Buss passed away in 2013. For his daughter, of course, the joy of watching him in some form is second to none.

Jeanie had an emotional answer, “You know what? I just really miss my dad so much. It’s kind of nice to see him.”

Though the scrutiny is high, the efforts put in by the creators are nothing to sneeze add.
Apart from the incredible performances by the actors, the production crew have also dedicated time and effort to capture an authentic version of the characters. The 61-year-old added, “I got to know they got in touch with my dad’s old tailor.”
“The wardrobe that he wears, that’s what was making me crazy… Those were outfits that my dad actually wore,” revealed Jeanie Buss.
