One could have all the degrees in the world and still not be able to explain all the mechanisms in the universe. So it is understandable for Shaquille O’Neal to be among the similar categories of individuals. Notably, the 4x NBA champ holds 4 college degrees, but there is one day-to-day technology that just baffles him. However, what some may find hilarious is Shaq’s belief behind the working of this tech.

During a recent episode of ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq‘, the former LA Lakers star was having a discussion on the existence of aliens with comedian Tom Sugera. The 45-year-old comedian stated the existence of modern technology as likely to be the work of aliens. He believes there is no way that at some point humans were using pigeons and horsemen to communicate, and now it is done with the click of some buttons. Shaquille O’Neal added to this, raising questions on the working of video messaging. “You know the greatest technology right now? I could be here. You can be in Austin… I can record video… Somehow it just travels through the air and gets through your phone,” he said on the podcast.

Shaquille O’Neal further mentioned that he has even tried looking up the mechanism behind this. But the 4x NBA champ still does not understand exactly how it happens. He can consider text for a moment, but how a video sent by him travels through “whatever” and ends up on someone else’s phone is just baffling for him. Shaq further emphasized this to be one of the best pieces of technology.

However, this instance does not mean that Shaquille O’Neal is not a tech enthusiast. In fact, in a 2023 interview with Thought Economics, he stated, “I love technology”. And he even expressed he’d be more excited to invest in evolving technology rather than just money making. Additionally, failing to know some concepts of certain principles cannot take away from Shaq the fact that he holds 4 college degrees.

List of college degrees that Shaquille O’Neal has earned

The first college degree for Shaquille O’Neal was from Louisiana State University. Notably, Shaq played college basketball for the LSU Tigers for three seasons. But apart from this, he also earned himself a B.A. degree in General Studies (Minor in Political Science), as stated by the ‘Academia Insider’ in 2023.

And despite having an established NBA career running successfully, Shaq still managed time to further explore academics. This led to him earning a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix. This degree that he received in 2005 makes even more sense considering the chain of businesses he owns now. Apart from this, he has also studied directing and cinematography at the New York Film Academy’s Filmmaking Conservatory.

But this was not it for Shaquille O’Neal in the academic department. He took things to the next level by earning a doctorate for himself. Notably, he earned himself an Ed.D. degree in Human Resource Development. It is worth mentioning that to Ed.D. is a doctorate degree similar to Ph.D., but focuses more on practical application than research. So, as goofy as Shaq may act all the time, his academic prowess is undeniable.
