Recently, Shaquille O’Neal uncovered one such story that relates to soccer legend David Beckham. Shaq has always been a fan of Beckham and has expressed the desire to be like him.

During his recent podcast appearance alongside NFL legend Tom Brady, Shaq unveiled what made him call Beckham. More importantly, the LA Lakers legend said that he used to wonder “Who the fu*k is David Beckham?” Although it wasn’t a feeling of resentment from the Big Man, he sure was jealous of the 48-year-old.

Shaq recently appeared on Brady’s Let’s Go! podcast. While in conversation with the great quarterback, he showed nothing but love to the now-retired superstar. More importantly, he revealed that in the O’Neal household, he is something of a superstar himself because of his connection to Brady. While Shaq is no stranger to fame, success, and wealth, his fanboy-ing over Brady was something we don’t get to see very often. In addition to Brady, Shaq also discussed Beckham and the reliability factor he could find in Beckham’s documentary series on Netflix.

The Big Man said that after he watched the documentary, he called Beckham to tell him that he was unaware of the things he went through. Being a superstar athlete himself, Shaq told the 48-year-old that he too has faced similar situations in life. Calling Beckham his “friend”, Shaq also admitted that he used to be pissed when he would always come second on the highest-paid athlete’s list. However, Beckham would always end up eclipsing Shaq’s dream with his own massive income every year.

Shaq said that this curiosity in him to find out who he is led to him meeting the English soccer superstar and eventually being friends with him.
