The James Harden saga was a messy one. Everything that went down with the 34-year-old and his previous franchise, the Philadelphia 76ers, was a tough thing to endure. However, now we are past it and Harden is settling in with his new team. Recently, an ex-NBA star chimed in on Harden’s situation.
Lamar Odom talked about Harden’s “immature” side before making a tall statement in favor of the 10x All-Star. Odom said that although he wasn’t pleased with the off-season drama that took place, he ranks Harden among the very best in the game.

During a recent podcast appearance, Odom was asked about his thoughts on the Harden-Morey drama and how it panned out for the 34-year-old. Odom said that despite everything that happened, Harden’s move to the LA Clippers is going to be of immense benefit to him and the franchise. The 2x NBA champion said that Harden is a very talented player and that he ranks him as the “second best left-handed player ever.” Odom said that the only left-handed athlete he thinks is better than Harden is the NBA veteran Tiny Archibald, who is a 6x All-Star and the 1981 NBA champion.
Odom’s all-time claim makes sense because Harden is the all-time leading scorer for left-handed athletes in the NBA. He averages almost 25 points per game and has been touted as one of the greatest NBA athletes of all time. Before Odom made such a tall claim for the Clippers star, he discussed the issues that Harden was having with the 76ers management. The NBA veteran said that it was largely due to Harden’s “immature” nature.
However, Odom added that there is nothing wrong with being immature, especially when you have $100 million on the line.

James Harden’s 76ers saga
Right after he arrived in Philadelphia, Harden was in the crosshairs of the franchise’s management. Initially, Harden was promised a max contract which was thrown in the back seat after their exit from the title race last season. This made Harden furious as he went on a rant against the franchise and Daryl Morey. From calling him names to disrespecting Morey publically, we saw it all unfold within a few months.
After that, Harden intentionally missed the pre-season rituals for the team. This was being done to force the 76ers hands into making a trade but they didn’t budge initially. After months of very public crossfire, Harden was eventually sent to the Clippers where he seems more content than we saw him last season.
