Skepticisms from fraternity suggest there’s enough reason to doubt Barkely’s claim. And when it’s coming from the likes of Curry and his father, it does put doubt in everyone’s minds. While there’s a noticeable improvement in his gaming skills since last year, he faces swinging difficulties. His prior struggles on the golf course might also affect his peer’s judgments about him.

Despite widespread skepticism, some people maintained an upbeat outlook on Barkley’s potential. Among the 4 people who thought Barkley might make the top 70 was NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers said, “I’m gonna say inside and he’s gonna beat Brian (Baumgartner)”  & country music singer Jake Owen. They may have trust in Barkley since they have seen him improve and grow as a player since the last tournament.

He admitted that his success in previous years had been affected by both his lack of fitness and the fact that he had gained over 100 pounds after having hip surgery. “My lack of conditioning killed me”, added Barkley.

Barkley stressed that he has been working hard to get better since then. He said he has lost over 60 pounds and worked hard on improving his total ability.

He even claims to be confident in his ability to go ahead and perform better in upcoming events. He’s been putting efforts into his health and takes a fresher perspective on the sport. Barkley is more optimistic about his golfing future now that he’s lost weight and improved his stance.
