The NBA has seen a significant increase in European players over the past few years. This trend is also reflected in this year’s Hall of Fame class, with three of the four former NBA star inductees hailing from Europe. German icon Dirk Nowitzki was among them. He won what many consider to be the toughest title in NBA history and was also one of the smartest players to have graced the court. Despite making millions throughout his career, Nowitzki’s humble roots were showcased during his later years in the league.

The 45-year-old is currently worth $140 million and he made over $250 million in contracts during his NBA career. However, he was never a show-off and a recent post highlighted that fact.

Dirk Nowitzki, regarded as one of the best power forwards in league history, always had his equipment and a meal to go when he left his home. Standing at seven feet tall, Nowitzki was one of the most skilled big men in the game because of his elite scoring skills, including his signature fadeaway shot.

He could maintain a high level of performance for a long period due to his dedication, self-control, and the effort he put in. Clair McNear of SBNation talked about the diet habits of Dirk back in 2015. ?”In Dirk?s old age he has gotten very particular about his diet,? he explained. ?So, that said, he brings his food to eat after the game. The plate that he always walks around with is his to-go plate that he brings his food on every game. He is a creature of habit, for sure.”

However, it became the subject of trolling for meme creators. The NBA meme page posted a collage of Dirk Nowitzki’s wedding day picture alongside him carrying food to a game in Tin Foil. The caption read, “Dirk made over $300 million and his wife still sent him to games with a plate of leftovers wrapped in tinfoil.”?

This was possible only because he had an amazing partner, Jessica Olsen.

Dirk Nowitzki and Jessica Olsson: The tale of humble love

It was fortunate for Dirk that he could find true love with Jessica Olsson, and the two of them married in 2012 shortly after Dirk’s team, the Mavs, won the title. They made their debut on the red carpet at The ESPYS Awards in 2011. Jessica has been a vital part of Dirk’s success and without her, his accomplishments may not have been as amazing.

The happy couple had a remarkable experience when they had a classic wedding in Nanyuki, the bride’s hometown. Dirk stood out among the others due to his captivating modesty and unpretentious personality. No. 41 never aspired to be a distinguished NBA player in the public eye.
