Did Kamala Harris just turn NBA legends into political enthusiasts? What's your take on this shift?

“Lot of studying,” Matt Barnes said when asked how he and his co-host prepared to interview U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris. But what convinced Barnes’ co-host, Stephen Jackson, to agree to interview a political figure? The former NBA player generally steers clear of politics. He was initially hesitant to take part in the interview. After the first live debate between Harris and Donald Trump aired on ABC News, the next big moment came on the All The Smoke podcast.

Stephen Jackson revealed it was Matt Barnes who convinced him to go ahead with the interview. Jackson revealed, “You know that, I called him and talked to him about that. Uh, me and Matt, we went at it for a couple of days…But, as a friend and as a brother to him, you know, anything that, that, that he asks me to do something, you know, 9 out of 10 times, I am loyal to a fault, even if it’s something I don’t want to do.”

However, the interview wouldn’t have happened without Harris’ efforts. Jackson, who prefers to stay away from anything related to politics, shared that he has many female family members, eight aunts and six daughters. He explained how Harris’ achievements inspired them all. He expressed their admiration for her. This gave him a sense of responsibility, and he’s glad he agreed to do the interview.

“I really don’t want to get in politics. I don’t, I don’t even want to be involved…I have a lot of women in my life, I have eight aunts, six daughters, you know, so how it look to them after I did the interview? I’m glad I did it now because they all look at her and look up to her and, and inspire to be great like her so I’m glad I did it,” Jackson said on The Breakfast Club.

Jackson went on to praise the vice president for her positive influence on younger generations. Both former NBA players admitted they were nervous before the interview. The two even shared a hilarious account of how they calmed their nerves. “Lot of study; a lot of smoking,” Barnes said.

Matt Barnes further revealed that though Jackson doesn’t engage in anything political, he had previously taken his stand in the whole George Floyd incident, so this might be a good enough opportunity for Jackson and the loyal following he has to ask some questions from Harris or just get stuff off this chest. But it was only a matter of time before the two podcasters met the Presidential nominee and she was able to have an impact on them.

Once she walked in, she took them away from the group and started to show them around the house that was adorned with impressive black art and sculptures. And two things struck Jackson immediately: a piece of art and the chandelier. Seeing Jackson inclined towards the two, Harris detailed about them. This is exactly when Barnes knew that she had got to the 46-year-old. Surprising thing amidst all this, you ask? Kamala Harris may have had a slight idea about Jackson not being too inclined to the podcast, as revealed by Barnes.

Are we going to see Donald Trump on the All The Smoke show as well? The idea of Trump sharing anecdotes with NBA legends is certainly thrilling. However, are the hosts really willing to have Trump on the show? We recently saw one of the hosts appearing nervous and reluctant to interview Kamala Harris.

But that latest interview seems to have opened new perspectives for Barnes and Jackson. The two are now more open and willing to explore different opportunities. And yes, he is willing to even have Trump on.

In an interview with Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson, Barnes clarified that all guests are welcome on the show. However, he had one condition for Trump. Barnes would be asking some real questions to the former US President. “Just because I want to ask some real questions,” Barnes said on the show. Can we expect Trump on the show soon?
