Kevin Garnett was a fiery competitor and a powerful defender who helped the Boston Celtics win the NBA Championship in 2008. The 15x NBA All-Star has had one of the finest NBA careers. He had incredible numbers against every team he faced, but particularly against Boston’s foe, the Knicks.
Against the Knicks, Garnett averaged a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. However, he appreciated the enthusiastic and liberated way that New Yorkers play and live their lives. In his podcast, KG Certified, the Big Ticket discussed his experience playing against the New York Knicks.
“I would always look forward to playing city guys. When I played New York, New York guys were always talking, and yes, they were talking in riddles. The New York guards were something I hadn’t seen in my life. New York guards were dribbling up and down in the streets; they were talking to the bums, they were hollering at the chicks, and they were slapping five with the construction workers.”

The freedom that the ‘city lads‘ embraced left him in disbelief. “They always talked the most sh*t; they had all the jazz. I got up to Chicago, and MO was talking back to the coach. Mike is telling the coach to shut up. I’ll be like, ‘Woah, what?'”

KG clarified that the ‘country boys‘ would simply play and comply with their coaches’ instructions. Garnett was once on the verge of getting fined and suspended for a physical fight with Bill Walker at the conclusion of a Boston Celtics-New York Knicks game.

Kevin Garnett had a beef against the Knicks
KG grabbed his former teammate by the throat, and officials and players from both teams removed both players after missing a potential game-tying shot at the buzzer. Garnett already has a reputation in the NBA for being a hothead with a vicious streak, so grabbing his opponent’s throat after missing a critical shot will not appear to be an isolated event.
The Boston Legend was not charged or suspended after an additional inquiry. Walker stated he approached Garnett following the game, and that there were no bad feelings. Both ballers stated in an interview that it happened in the heat of the moment and that they both respect each other. Both were determined to win the game, which culminated in a heated argument.
