Recently, an NBA veteran talked about his struggles of coping with life after retirement. This 48-year-old has been in the news a lot lately, mostly for the wrong reasons. However, during a recent conversation, he took a deep dive into his life after retirement and the difficulties he faced.

Joe Smith is a retired NBA athlete. Although he could not achieve great things in his career, he surely had a great start to it. Smith was the first-round 1st overall pick in the league. He was drafted by the Golden State Warriors in 1995 and played there till 1998. After that, Smith bounced around the league, representing eleven other teams before eventually announcing retirement in 2011. Although he ended his career with no rings or All-Star appearances, as per reports he made around $65 million in his career. Post his retirement in 2011, he went through a lot of mental agony, which he talked about recently.
Smith was recently on the DJVlad?show on YouTube. The 48-year-old was asked about his life after retirement from the league and whether he faced mentally challenging situations. Smith said that the burden of dealing with life after 2011 was very tough on him. The NBA veteran said, “I got stuck there for a while”. As per Smith, he is still dealing with the issues of a regular life. During the conversation, the host asked him whether being divorced around the same time added anything to an already frustrating routine. He said, “That was pound on top of it as well.”
Smith and his first wife Yolanda Smith divorced in 2011 after he was allegedly caught cheating. As of now, he is with Kisha Chavis, who recently went viral following the OnlyFans controversy.
