“He gives 110 percent, dives for loose balls even if he can’t get them, that’s Dennis Rodman.” Michael Jordan described his Chicago Bulls teammate in the best way possible. Even Kobe Bryant was full of praise for the 7x NBA Rebounding champion. Not just teammates, but opponents, namely a young Kevin Garnett, saw what an athlete Dennis Rodman was.
Speaking about it on the Ticket and the Truth episode, they were asked about the effectiveness of Rodman in today’s NBA and Kevin Garnett held no doubt, because of the agility of the Bulls star. “Had the agility to move with any point guard in the 90s, he could slide left to right laterally with anybody.” He even stated that The Worm would have outworked 80% of today’s roster in the NBA. KG feels it because of an infamous incident from 1997.
The game finished in the Bulls’ favor 112-102, but after an intense game, he could not believe what Rodman was up to. ” I’m tired as sh** man, lord on the motherfu**ing treadmill and combat boots up to his goddamn knees running on a 15 incline at a 15 17 like talking to me.” Seeing the “mystique,” of Rodman’s agility, Kevin Garnett got the secret that helped in back-to-back games, “lift.”

Rodman told KG to practice lifting after the games no matter how tired the body was. This secret helped the Minnesota Wolves‘ star be in shape even if the games were back-to-back. The original episode aired 6 months ago, however, the clip of the episode was recently uploaded on IG. He even gave a shoutout at the end, which was not the first time.

Earlier this year, SportsCenter and ESPN uploaded a collaborative post on Instagram, celebrating a milestone. In 1993, Dennis Rodman would score 0 points in 2 games for the Spurs but would score 49 rebounds. This included a 28-rebound game in 45 minutes against the Hornets in December. Just like Jordan, another teammate of Rodman praised his ability on the court.

The Lakers Legend agrees with Kevin Garnett
The Los Angeles Lakers Coach in 2008 was asked about the best athlete he ever coached. Phil Jackson was sitting beside Kobe Bryant but chose the Bulls superstar, and it’s not Michael Jordan. Jackson was also the coach of the Bulls when Jordan and Rodman ran the league in the 90s. And the answer of the then Lakers coach was not surprising, at least to Kobe Bryant.
Rodman would play for the Lakers for only a season, but during that time he impressed Kobe Bryant. “People obviously think of Jordan first, but as an athlete, Dennis was a freak of nature. In terms of his size, he ran like a deer, he could run all day, he could defend from the one position all the way up to the five.”

It is due to these abilities described best by Jordan, Kobe, and Kevin Garnett, that Dennis Rodman was a very special athlete. He was able to win the rebounding title 7 times that to back-to-back. In the all-time list, he is at #23 with 11,954 rebounds, as per ESPN. And the secret he shared with KG worked because he is above Rodman with 14,662 rebounds at #9.
