Just when you thought he was staying lowkey, The Worm wriggles into public consciousness with style. NBA icon Dennis Rodman made a startling appearance at Alexander Wang’s show in New York City, not as a spectator, but as the showstopper. The Chicago Bulls legend, who was exuding Lady Gaga before Lady Gaga, stepped out in Wang’s all-black creation at the Pre-Fall 2025 runway show while everyone least expected it.

Wang dressed him in black leather-inspired baggy sweats with a thick black fur stole that nearly hid his famous face tattoos of his girlfriend, Yella Yella. The literal head-scratcher was the metallic studs stuck to his head to match the studs on his shoes. The entire look was giving fans The Fifth Element vibes. Pretty tame by Rodman’s standards but bold, nonetheless.

Alexander Wang is one of the youngest self-made billionaires in the fashion world owning a 15% chunk of the $7.3 billion empire he built. How he made this happen is not known right now but he knew what he was doing when he got the NBA legend to walk in his show. It’s more than the fire emojis, he commented on Instagram for Rodman’s look.

Rodman was the unexpected fashion icon of the ’90s way ahead of his time. He wasn’t wearing studs in his hair but no one was dyeing 33s in his hair for Scottie Pippen either. It also looks like a neat homage to his signature piercings.

His runway moments are rare. Yet he knew how to hit a red carpet and steal the spotlight from A-listers. He turned 63 on May 13 and he’s proving that he’s not running out of fashion game.

Nothing new for Dennis Rodman

More than Rodman lifting one of his five NBA championships, he’s memorable for making a style statement. In 1996, he arrived at promotions for his memoir, Bad as I Wanna Be, looking unrecognizable in a custom wedding dress, runway-grade hair and makeup, and an army of tuxedo-clad women in a horse-drawn carriage. Gender-bending has always been his favorite trend that never went out of style.

When he wasn’t showing Von Dutch and Ed Hardy, he was in a sheer burnout blouse. He wore a midriff-baring silver camisole to the VMA red carpet. Buttons were a non-functional concept when the mood decided.

His Alexander Wang look is not like what he’s worn before but it could be inspired by it. Long leather coats or leather pants with his platinum-dyed hair were a thing in the ’90s. He’d also wear a lot of fur and velvet, as was the huge trend three decades ago. As outlandish as it may seem, fans are loving his unannounced side quest. If Rodman and Wang listen to fans’ requests, they could be expanding this collaboration to an entire fashion campaign.
