Dennis Rodman’s son lands a major deal with Crocs—Is this the start of a new legacy?

Dennis Rodman has been trying to make amends with his kids for some time now. When his two children, Trinity and DJ Rodman, spoke about his absence in their lives, the NBA legend acknowledged it. He had his reasons, but things are different now. Although The Worm is not always present for his kids at events or special days, he remains super supportive of them. Even if it was a bit late, the 5x NBA champion shared a simple message to congratulate his son when he found out about his major Crocs deal.

Rodman recently made an appearance at the New York Got Sole event. The fashionable NBA legend wore a cool T-shirt revealing a graphic picture of himself and paired it with red, funky Crocs. When the host asked him about his son, who also loves Crocs and even has an endorsement deal with the company, Rodman appeared surprised at first asking “he does?” to confirm the news. After the assurance by the host, he shared three words to encourage his son, saying, “Bless his soul.”

It was earlier in February this year that DJ Rodman signed a deal with the $5.89 billion worth brand, Crocs. As the newest ambassador of the brand, DJ appeared in a special campaign video too. “I want to stand out in a way that no one else feels comfortable doing. I think Crocs really represent myself, that’s why I love them. They’re my favorite shoe, hands down,” Rodman can be heard saying in the clip.

Crocs are the new comfortable and casual fashion taking over the masses including Rodman. “I wanted to work with Crocs because I love them. I think they are the most effortless comfortable shoe,” young Rodman said about his love for the Crocs.

After spending 4 years with the Washington State Cougars, he moved to the USC Trojans where he averaged 7.3 points per game. DJ also bagged a position in the NBA Summer League with the Los Angeles Clippers. And now he might shift to the NBA G League. Despite staying so far away from each other, both father and son appear to share the same love for Crocs.

Why wasn’t Dennis Rodman present for his kids during their childhood?

The Chicago Bulls legend married thrice. He had Alexis with his first wife, Annie Bakes. While his second marriage with Carmen Electra was just for 9 days, he had two kids with his third wife, Michelle Moyer. Rodman couldn’t speak to his elder daughter Alexis for 20 years. He saw Alexis after years when she was 24 years old.

The 63-year-old also doesn’t share a close bond with her daughter Trinity. She has publicly shared that with her followers. She is a soccer player and plays for the NWSL club, the Washington Spirit. However, Trinity’s brother has always dropped subtle hints on social media and interviews about his relationship with his father. Both Trinity and DJ have previously stated that while they have the celebrity kid tag on them, they are completely self-made athletes.

We saw most of the celebrity kids share a special post on the occasion of Father’s Day. And so did DJ Rodman. But it wasn’t his picture with his father. He shared a picture of him with his mother and wrote, “Happy Father’s Day to the one who help me grow up to the person I am today and played both father and mother figures for my whole life.” That says a lot about the bond between the father and son. It also explains why Rodman wasn’t aware of his son’s Croc deal.

Dennis Rodman, who never had a good relationship with his father, shared that it was tough for him. The NBA legend’s father left him and his mother when he was young. “It’s very hard for me to try to break out of that cycle. It’s just one of those things where I never had anyone to ever do that [be a dad] for me and I think sometimes, ‘Why am I doing it for somebody else?” Rodman said in the 2019 ESPN documentary, Rodman: For Better or Worse.

The name ‘Rodman’ seems like the only thing that has stayed with the 5x NBA champion’s kids. However, Dennis Rodman is trying every bit now to correct his mistakes.
