Is Charles Barkley's wish to be cremated in a casino a nod to his gambling past?

Charles Barkley is taking his love for Phoenix to the next level. While doing so, he’s also showing appreciation for his hometown and a controversial spot in Las Vegas. At the age of 61, Chuck seems to be making funeral plans a bit too fast. However, they’re quite intriguing. Once again, he has come up with a bucket list wish that could stir things up in these three famed places.

The recent passing of Suns’ sportscaster, Al McCoy, has triggered this. While speaking about the legend, Chuck shared how often he saw McCoy and expressed his deep appreciation for the Suns and Phoenix, saying he wants to be cremated there. He even confirmed he’s not leaving the Valley of the Suns. “I’m never leaving Phoenix alive. When I leave Phoenix, they gon cremate my fat a**,” Barkley hilariously stated. But Phoenix isn’t the only place on his list.

Chuck’s fans might have already guessed it. The former Philadelphia 76ers player has a soft spot for casinos, particularly in Las Vegas. Interestingly, it could be the same casino that filed a civil complaint against him in 2008. “My a** is so big, I’m like, I want some ashes in Alabama, I want some ashes in Phoenix and I want the rest at a casino in Vegas. We just have to pick out what casino,” Barkley said during his interview with Arizona Sports.

I always tell people. It’s so stupid to bury people, man. Get cremated and get your ashes. These people make me laugh. They’re like,Yo, I went to the cemetery.’ I’m like, ‘For what? What did you go to the cemetery for? They’re not there.’ My friends are like, ‘Yo man, you’ve never visited your mother and grandmother or your brothers.’ I was like, ‘Coz they’re dead. They’re not there.,‘” he further stated, leaving everyone in splits.

Nonetheless, Barkley’s gambling habit was once serious. While he’s no longer involved in gambling, Chuck has expressed a wish to be cremated at a Las Vegas casino. This could very well boost the casino’s business!

With two important places in his life covered, it wouldn’t be right for Chuck to forget his roots. He also wants some of the ashes in Alabama, where he grew up. However, the most surprising part of his wish is still the casino where he lost millions gambling there.

Charles Barkley lost $1 million to gambling

Is Charles Barkley's wish to be cremated in a casino a nod to his gambling past?

Have an interesting take?

The Phoenix Suns legend had Moses Malone and many more to guide him with his finances when he was a rookie. However, despite that, he made some serious financial mistakes. His gambling addiction only rose after he won some money.

In a conversation with Graham Bensinger, Chuck confessed that he lost $1 million multiple times in a single day. With a net worth of $60 million, the basketball legend likely would have had a few more million to boast of had he been more mindful of the rules that should be followed to manage finances.

I probably won a million about 5 or 6 times. But I have lost a million somewhere about 10 to 20 times, I can’t get an exact number because it’s going back to the ’80s,” the Chuckster had said. While he agreed that gambling wasn’t a good idea, Chuck has now been able to stay out of the way.

Earlier in the interview, Barkley shared a few words about McCoy. He, along with several other NBA stars, had previously worked with McCoy, and his loss was deeply felt by everyone who knew him.
