The rivalry between LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony is going to continue into the next generation. Being the sons of NBA greats has really put a target on the backs of young and upcoming stars like Bryce Maximus James and Kiyan Anthony. The two have a few more years to go before making it to the NBA. But it is not long till we see the two battle it out against each other on the court.

Following their rise to fame because of their name and their talents on the court, people from all across the nation come to see the young stars play. In a recent video, Kiyan shares his experience of seeing people from different industries come watch him play along with his ‘cousin’.

Kiyan Anthony is happy to see his ‘cousin’

The 2003 draft is argued to be one of the best draft classes ever. It had LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony, and they went number 1 and number 3. Even though they both go against each other’s necks on the court, they are always seen hanging out with each other off the court.

The competitive spirit has been passed on to their kids as well. Kiyan Anthony is 16 years old. In a recent video released by Overtime in the series of videos following Kiyan’s journey, he is seen talking about people coming to watch his game. The 16-year-old goes on to say that it’s exciting to see people like Bryce show up to support him. He then says that because their parents are super close, he sees Bryce as a ‘cousin’.

 

Kiyan then said that he is also excited to see rappers show up, mentioning NLE Choppa, who was at the game. NLE then mentioned that he has been following Kiyan since a younger age. With all eyes on the next generation of talents, the world is looking forward to see if these kids will be able to live up to the standards their fathers have set in the league.

LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony’s paths have crossed before

LeBron James is different in one aspect when compared to Carmelo Anthony on their path to the league. He did not go to college. Carmelo led his team to the NCAA championship with Syracuse University as a freshman. He was also named the most outstanding player in the NCAA.

But something people don’t remember is that the two went up against each other in high school. 11,000 fans showed up to see the high school game between the two. And the fans were not disappointed. LeBron scored 36 points, and Carmelo scored 34 points and got the win. The two continued their matchup in the NBA as well. But finally, in the 2021–2022 season, they played together on the NBA floor. Carmelo retired the following year, but his legacy still lives on through his son, who is not far from making it to the NBA.
