Zaya, this is for you and the beautiful community you’ve built…All children deserve to feel accepted, to feel loved, and to feel safe, Dwyane Wade said in a speech after accepting the Elevate Prize Catalyst Award in May. On Zaya’s 17th birthday last month, they launched a trans resource hub called Translatable. The Miami Heat legend even moved to California to provide a safe space for Zaya.

Dwyane Wade recently appeared on the TODAY show, where he spoke about the latest project and the purpose behind the project. The platform was created to find information that people need about the LGBTQIA+ community. Wade said, “But also to show the brilliance, show the creativity. The comments section can be ugly and if we just live off that, if our kids just live off that it’s going to be a tough road for them.

The conversation between Zaya and Dwyane Wade started in the pandemic and they spoke about impacting other people’s life. The 42-year-old understands the publicity and the limelight his daughter is surrounded by. So they wanted to create a social platform for the community. On Translatable, people can share a plethora of ideas in the form of poetry, photography, or even general thoughts.

Wade also announced in his award speech that the Translatable platform would receive funding through the Wade Family Foundation. Already, the Foundation is working towards LGBTQIA+ equality along with racial justice. The addition of the Translatable serves as an additional vehicle in helping the purpose of the family foundation.

Recently, Dwyane Wade also helped by selling his wardrobe for the latest project. The post was in collaboration with Dwyane Wade, Translatable, and The Real Real. It’s a fashion website that deals in sourcing authentic luxury resale. It was also stated that the proceeds would go towards the latest project by Zaya. All this proves that Dwyane Wade is one of Zaya’s biggest supporters.

In 2023, Wade was invited amongst esteemed personalities like World Bank president, Ajay Banga and the Bahamas PM Philip E. Davis. Plus, people from Hollywood like Matt Damon, and Ashley Judd were present at the 2023 Clinton Global Initiative on September 18 and 19. He spoke at the event that as a father of a daughter in the queer community; it was an important conversation that he wanted to share.

Nevertheless, in the years since, Wade, alongside his wife Gabrielle Union, has become one of the most vocal celebrities when it comes to advocating for trans rights. Previously, Wade had shared how he is constantly worried about Zaya and called the trans community and the LGBTQIA+ community as one of the most attacked communities.

With life after basketball, Dwyane Wade has found his purpose and with the help of the entire family, they are on a mission to help the communities.
