What wouldn’t we give to get some pearls of wisdom from Coach Prime from something other than a phone screen? Shaunie and Keion Henderson made that happen for thousands in Houston. The pastor and first lady of Houston Lighthouse Church organized a confluence of faith and culture in a dynamic event they dubbed the Cry Out Experience in downtown Houston. Representing the culture aspect was the star speaker of the convention – Deion Sanders, aka Coach Prime. Attendees crowded the Buffs coach’s stage to listen to his talk. After the successful conclusion of the two-day event, Sanders was only full of gratitude for its organizers.
Shaunie shared a backstage photograph with college football’s most trending name on her page. Sanders commented under her post, “Love y’all 2 Life.” And that wasn’t all. He shared the same backstage photograph with Shaunie and Keion on his Stories letting everyone know they’re, “1 of my favorite couples.” Shaunie additionally reshared it with the response, “We love you coach.”
Her memoir, Undefeated, rose to #1 on the NY Times Bestseller list. While celebrating that, she and her husband led the second annual Cry Out Experience with the additional star power of Deion Sanders. The event took place during the weekend of June 21-23 at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

NBA legend and one of Shaquille O’Neal’s fiercest opponents, Chris Webber was another speaker in the lineup. Media personality, Charlamagne Tha God, social justice activist, Tamika Mallory, and Grammy winners, Fred Hammond and Tye Tribbett were on stage at the event. Sanders was the showstopper and this amazing collaboration was longtime coming.
Shaunie’s famous friendship with Coach Prime
While busy in the Colorado Buffs recruitment efforts, Sanders took the time to lead the Hendersons event because if it isn’t obvious already, he’s a huge fan of both. In 2023, when Prime Time Sanders was the biggest name in college football for reviving the Buffs, Sanders was hyping Shaunie.

Shaunie commented on one of his posts, “Your relationship with these boys melts my heart!” The comment caught the head coach’s attention, who responded, “@iamshaunie my boys are why we’re here sis.” Over the course of time, both have shared their mutual admiration and similar stances on encouraging young people.
Sanders, Webber, Mallory, and Charlamagne made the 2024 Cry Out Experience a successful event. What’s next for NY Times bestselling author, Shaunie Henderson? Working on 2025 Cry Out Experience.
