Is Coach Prime right to back the NBA champ, or does Arenas have a point?

Stephen Jackson just set some players’ entire career graph on fire. But if you ask a significant part of his recent IG post’s comment section, it was all against Gilbert Arenas. However, ex-San Antonio Spurs star himself did not take a single name in his opinion on Hoopers vs Scorers.

And neither did Colorado Buffaloes’ head coach Deion Sanders, while supporting Jackson. Preach my brother! Basketball is my favorite sport and the game ain’t the same,” Coach Prime commented. But what exactly was it that Jackson stated in his IG video post? “There’s too many scorers talking right now. They’re not Hoopers. There’s a difference between scorers and Hoopers, right?” he first said. The ex-Spurs Star, however, admitted that scoring points in the NBA is a hard job.

Jackson himself has averaged more than 20 points per game in 4 seasons of his career. But he still views Hoopers as a different breed than scorers. “Hoopers play on both ends. Hoopers compete. They play defense. They score, and they go down there to stop… and they win,” Jack said. He even argued that there have been multiple players who could score, and still didn’t end up having that long an NBA career. But why so, you ask?

Well, according to Jackson, such players were scared, soft, and didn’t compete in defense. “They didn’t try to stop nobody, and it didn’t make nobody better, and they didn’t win shit… Big difference between hoopers and scorers. I respect hoopers,” the ex-Spurs star added. It seems it was hard for a large part of the comment section to not assume that Stephen was not directing his words at Gilbert Arenas.

But what’s the ground of the IG users’ assumption that Jackson was referring to Gil?

Anthony Edwards left fans and experts divided in their opinions when he claimed Michael Jordan was only the one with skills during His Airness’ era. While multiple NBA stars like Magic Johnson and Kevin Garnett came down on Ant Man, Arenas sided with the Wolves star. However, he stated Edwards was pointing out majority players back then except a handful, like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and more.

Meanwhile, Gil’s co-host, Rashad McCants, argued that Gil is only considering scoring in his agreement with Ant Man’s opinion. “When we’re talking about skill, we’re talking about offensive. Nobody talks about defensively,” the ex-Warriors star responded. Well, not according to Stephen Jackson, at least. In fact, he could not seem to care less if scoring is all you have to offer in your gameplay.

Yet another reason for fans to assume that Jack referred to Gilbert Arenas when he started his video with “There’s too many scorers talking right now.” As proficient as he was in scoring abilities, the ex-Warriors star’s defensive abilities were subpar at best. Now it’s to be seen if the 3x All Star picks this subtle battle of scorers vs hoopers as his own.
