Shaquille O’Neal played in the NBA for 19 years. Playing for such a long time and doing most of the heavy lifting in all his teams took a toll on his 350 lbs body. Twenty years ago, O’Neal had to get surgery on his toe, shortly after completing a three-peat in Los Angeles. While the foot injury would affect Big Diesel‘s late career, he never shied away from putting it on display. The NBA world has witnessed Shaq’s “Ugly A**” feet during an episode of Inside the NBA a few years back. Still facing the after-effects of showing his feet on live television, Diesel rarely endorses any shoe brands.

But the ones he does are likely to be Reebok, where Shaq is now President and co-owner. The Hall of Famer made a 10,000-pair reveal that helped him ease the pain following the painful aftermath of playing in the NBA.

Unfortunately, Shaq is 51 years old and is no longer in his peak physical condition. He went through a lot of pain after his retirement because of the wear and tear from playing in the NBA. The 7’1 giant’s legs and feet were the parts that were most affected of all. Shaq revealed in a recent interview with GQ, that he switched to TOMS shoes because of how comfortable they were. The 4x NBA champion revealed he did not want to tie knots anymore, and TOMS allowed him to slip his “beautiful toes” easily into the shoes. Shaq reportedly bought 2000 pairs of TOMS shoes in 2018.

Shaq further revealed that he also liked to wear low-top shoes like the Reebok Classics. “They sent me 10,000 pairs of those. Red, blue, yellow, orange, green!” the legend said.

Notably, the Los Angeles Lakers legend was signed with Reebok when he played in the NBA. However, he decided to part ways with the multi-billion dollar brand because he wanted to start his own brand of affordable basketball shoes for kids. After a short stint with Walmart however, O’Neal returned to his original sneaker brand.

During his NBA career, Shaquille O’Neal was infamous for not taking care of his body like other NBA superstars.

While his former Lakers teammate Kobe Bryant spent most of his time working on his game, Shaq relied on his natural skills and size and did only what was asked of him. Although that did not affect Shaq’s on-court performance, he developed a bad reputation for being lazy.

At age 51, the Lakers legend is making up for lost time and trying to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
