Despite being considered one of the greatest athletes of all time, many believe that MJ could not have achieved his three-peats without the help of Scottie Pippen. While most looked up to His Airness, a few fans have instead idolized Pippen for his all-around commitment to winning.

In a recent podcast episode of ?Underdog NBA?, Bonzi Wells talked about his love for Scottie Pippen. The host asked him, ?What was Scottie Pippen?s influence on you guys??, Bonzi Wells replied, ?They called me Lil Pip for a while actually.?

He smiled and further explained, ?Shout-out to Pippen. That?s my guy. “

Wells explained how his youth was spent around fans of MJ. Yet he always found himself gravitating toward #33. “Growing up in the neighborhood, everyone wanted to be like Mike. I just loved the way Scottie played the game too?he was one of my favorite players.?

Bonzi Wells further said, ?When Pip came in, I just remember how excited I was. He looked literally like a superhero to me.?

The 47-year-old veteran?s admiration for Scottie Pippen speaks a lot about the 6x NBA champion. However, Scottie Pippen?s relationship with Michael Jordan turned sour after “The Last Dance’s” release in 2020.

Bonzi Wells is a 6’5 shooting guard/small forward, who played for Portland during Pippen’s time in Portland. He was still fresh as he was just in his sophomore year in the league. This explains his admiration for the former Chicago Bulls legend whom he had watched growing up.

After Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen’s successful championship run in the 1990s, both Michael Jordan and Phil Jackson (head coach) retired. The Small Forward then got traded to the ‘Houston Rockets’ in 1998. However, since Pippen and Charles Barkley never got along, this led to Pippen being traded off to the ‘ Portland Trailblazers’ in a $66 million deal with the ‘Houston Rockets’.
