Charles Barkley, the legendary basketball player turned outspoken analyst, is known for his candid opinions and larger-than-life personality. While he’s often in the spotlight for his commentary in the “Inside the NBA Show,”  he’s also been a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist. However, being an entrepreneur has not made him greedy for money, and in a recent interview, he revealed some of the facts regarding it.

In a recent interview with Mike Missanelli on “The Mike Missanelli Show,”  the former NBA Champion revealed his policies of doing commercials. “I only do two commercials a year; I have very strict rules, and I don’t want people to get sick of me, and I don’t want them to think that I would do commercials just for money,” said Barkley in the interview. But the former Philadelphia 76ers power forward didn’t stop there. Barkley went on to share how he is only doing commercials for Subway and has to work in line with the schedule of Samuel L. Jackson.

The 61-year-old also revealed how he works for only two days in December, whereas Jackson works for 300 days a year. This strategy not only aligns with Barkley’s authentic personal brand but also demonstrates a keen understanding of the marketing psychology of maintaining exclusivity and potentially increases the impact of the endorsements. But even though the 61-year-old is making fewer commercials, he’s still making good money.

The former power forward has a net worth of $70 million. During his playing days, he also had done many endorsements for brands like Coca-Cola, Nike, T-Mobile, etc, and in recent times has invested in companies like Neorovoice that work in the medical sector. Despite this, we can say, Barkley is nowhere near Shaq in terms of money.

Shaquille O’Neal, on the other hand, is the polar opposite of Barkley. Per reports, the former does 200 commercials. Barkley said, “Shaq does anything, and somebody sent me something that he got gummies out now.” The seven-footer is indeed a different type of beast. Be it on the court with his playing styles or in his investments. The NBA champion is expected to have a net worth of $500 million this year and has invested in blooming organizations like Google, Lyft Inc., Ring, and Vitaminwater. He has also been featured in many commercials, like those of Burger King, Pepsi, Reebok, Papa John’s, etc. The list of his investments and endorsements doesn’t end here.

In 2018, the 15x NBA All-Star opened his chain fast-food chain by the name “Big Chicken” and is now available in over 18 locations all over the US. In the end, Barkley’s candid revelation about his commercial policy not only highlights the different paths former athletes can take in their post-playing careers but also sparks a broader conversation about the responsibility public figures have in their endorsement choices. Now with “Inside the NBA” coming to an end, Barkley also revealed one characteristic of Shaq in this latest interview.

The iconic TNT show “Inside the NBA” is coming to an end as the NBA has shifted its broadcasting rights to NBC, ESPN, and Amazon. This marks the end of an era for the show, which has been a staple in basketball fans’s lives for decades. As the curtain falls on “Inside the NBA,” its analysts, including Charles Barkley, reflect on their time on the show and share behind-the-scenes stories.

One such story was related to Shaq’s sensitive attitude. “He gets mad in a moment,” said Barkley when he was shown a clip of him and Superman fighting over a topic regarding who’s the best between Alex Len and Nikola Jokic. However, Barkley wasn’t the only one teasing the seven-footer. His partner in crime was another analyst on the show Kenny Smith. He also revealed that Shaq had gotten so upset with them that he didn’t talk to them for the next week.

This wasn’t the only time Shaq had shown his sensitive side. During another episode of “Inside the NBA,”  Superman got mad when Barkley stopped him from giving his own opinion. That time the former NBA champion didn’t talk with the analyst for two days.
