Charles Barkley, Who Has Saved $5 Million for One Place, Had His Jaw Dropped at Alma Mater’s Fairy Tale Like Run

As new players come in every year, the college basketball scene has filled the arenas with excitement about what’s to come. With the 2023 season right around the corner, Auburn University held its annual event for the alumni and sponsors to take part in. Charles Barkley has been a major influence in recruiting and shining a light on Auburn University and its sporting divisions.

Being a diehard fan of football and basketball, he has always been around the school to help the system and the students. Having recently pledged 5 million dollars, Barkley reveals how he was shocked by the Tigers.

Charles Barkey was surprised by what Coach Pearl had done

The annual golf tournament at Auburn was held on Monday. At the Bruce, Barkley, and Basketball annual golf tournament, Barkley revealed that he is always excited to be back at Auburn. He likes to be a part of the alumni and sponsors, and they get together every year for the annual event. Barkley then said that even though it was a good team, he never expected them to make the final four.

He said, “I never thought they would have made it to the Final Four. That changed the dynamic of the program.” Making the final four in 2019 really changed the college for the better. He believes that it was because of Coach Pearl that they did it. Barkley was not expecting the team to do that but this has elevated the team to new heights.

Bruce Pearl talked about the team and how they are playing. He revealed how he wants his team to play in the upcoming season and his hopes for the players. The addition of the third-ranked point guard in the nation, Aden Holloway, is big for the team. With this, the team is ready for the new season.

Barkley’s kind gesture for the students

Charles Barkley recently revealed that he is leaving 5 million dollars in his will for Auburn University. Barkley also said that money would be used exclusively for black students’ scholarships. Barkley went to Auburn in the 1980s and played there for three years. He hopes this money will help keep the diversity in the university.

During his time, he mentioned that he faced many hardships from people. It was mostly because the basketball division was not taken seriously when he was playing. Still, Barkley still holds his alma mater close to his heart and wants to improve the situation for the younger generation.
